Helen Elders of Mineral Point, Missouri was born on Sunday, April 25, 1926 in Shoal Creek, Missouri a daughter of the late, Ida (Chandler) Scott and Lewis Martin. Helen departed this life on Wednesday, December 26, 2012 at the Washington County Memorial Hospital, Potosi, Missouri having reached the age of eighty-six years, eight months and one day.
Helen is survived by one son, Ron Paul of Mineral Point, Missouri; five sisters, Mabel Ribble of Black, Missouri, Louetta Swaringim of Licking, Missouri, Lorretta Brewster of St. Marys, Missouri, Margaret Pratt and husband, Clarence of St. Louis, Missouri, Martha Smith and husband, Floyd of O’Fallon, Missouri; three brothers, Jesse Martin of Mexico, Missouri, Glenwood Scott of St. Louis, Missouri, Lawrence Scott of Cadet, Missouri; two grandchildren, Marcia McCormick and husband, Randy of Key Largo, Florida, Brad Paul and wife, Kathy of Bonne Terre, Missouri; five great-grandchildren, Zachary McCormick, Lauren McCormick, Natalie McCormick, Noah Paul and Tucker Paul; also surviving are other relatives and friends. In addition to her parents, Helen was preceded in death by two husbands, Stanley Paul and Glen Elders, four sisters, Hazel Edgar, Edna Blair, Altha Hawkins, Goldie Gibson and one brother, William Scott.
Helen attended the St. James Catholic Church, Potosi, Missouri. After twenty years of employment she retired from the Potosi Wood Heel Plant. She was an honorary life member of the Farmington V.F.W. Ladies Auxiliary. She was a proprietor of the Canary and the Hide-Away Bar and Grill in Farmington, Missouri. Helen loved to cook for all her family and friends and go fishing as she enjoyed spending time outdoors. First and foremost she considered herself to be a farm mom and granny for many people. Helen will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
A Memorial Visitation was held Saturday, December 29, 2012 from 12:00 PM to 2:30 PM at the Moore Funeral Home, Potosi, Missouri.
A Memorial Service was held Saturday, December 29, 2012 at 2:30 PM at the Moore Memorial Chapel, Potosi, Missouri with Father Richard Tillman officiating.
Services were Entrusted to the Care and Direction of the Moore Funeral Homes, 105 Clark Street, Potosi, Missouri.
