LAVERN HOWARD EVANS OF POTOSI, MISSOURI WAS BORN SEPTEMBER 15, 1931 IN COURTOIS, MISSOURI A SON OF THE LATE ROY SHERMAN AND EDNA ELIZABETH (MABES) EVANS. LAVERN RECEIVED HEAVENLY PEACE FRIDAY, JULY 25, 2003 AT HIS HOME AT THE AGE OF SEVENTY-ONE YEARS, TEN MONTHS AND TEN DAYS.
LAVERN IS SURVIVED BY HIS WIFE MATTIE ANN (GOODMAN) EVANS OF POTOSI, MISSOURI; ONE DAUGHTER, RHONDA GILLIAM AND HUSBAND KEVIN OF FARMINGTON, MISSOURI; THREE SONS, DENNIS EVANS OF CLARKTON, MISSOURI, PHILLIP EVANS OF STEELVILLE, MISSOURI AND MARTY EVANS AND WIFE SUSIE OF POTOSI, MISSOURI; THREE STEP DAUGHTERS, LINDA LAWSON AND HUSBAND DON OF FARMINGTON, MISSOURI, LEANNE LAKE OF POTOSI, MISSOURI AND JUDY EVANS OF MINERAL POINT, MISSOURI; ONE STEP SON, JAMES LAKE OF POTOSI, MISSOURI; TWO SISTERS GLENNA DICUS OF DESLOGE, MISSOURI AND MARILYN BENSON AND HUSBAND DALE OF ST. JAMES, MISSOURI; ONE BROTHER OLIN EVANS AND WIFE PATRICIA OF FESTUS; ONE SISTER-IN-LAW PATRICIA EVANS OF VICHY, MISSOURI; THREE GRANDCHILDREN, ANDREW EVANS, RYAN EVANS AND HUNTER EVANS; THREE STEP GRANDCHILDREN RYAN AUBUCHON, LANCE AND COLLIN GILLIAM AND BY MANY OTHER RELATIVES AND FRIENDS. IN ADDITION TO HIS PARENTS LAVERN WAS ALSO PRECEDED IN DEATH BY HIS FIRST WIFE LYNDORA EVANS ON APRIL 21, 1988, ONE STEP DAUGHTER DEBBIE LAKE AND ONE BROTHER ODELL EVANS.
LAVERN ENJOYED HUNTING IN THE WOODS WITH HIS BOYS AND FRIENDS. HE WAS AN AVID GARDNER AND ENJOYED HIS VEGETABLES AND FLOWERS. LAVERN ENJOYED DOING CARPENTRY WORK. HE LOVED TO TAKE TIME AND LISTEN TO AND SING GOSPEL MUSIC AND ATTEND CHURCH.
LAVERN HAD A VERY SPECIAL PLACE IN HIS HEART FOR HIS GRANDCHILDREN AND ENJOYED SPENDING TIME WITH EACH OF THEM.
VISITATION WAS HELD SUNDAY, JULY 27, 2003 FROM 5:00 P.M. TO 9:00 P.M. AND MONDAY, JULY 28, 2003 FROM 9:00 A.M. TO 11:00 A.M. AT THE MOORE FUNERAL HOME, POTOSI, MISSOURI.
FUNERAL SERVICES WERE HELD MONDAY, JULY 28, 2003 AT 11:00 A.M. AT THE MOORE MEMORIAL CHAPEL WITH REVEREND CLARENCE CASTEEL OFFICIATING. MUSICAL SELECTIONS PLAYED WERE HELP POUR OUT THE RAIN, I'D LIKE TO HAVE PAPA SHOW ME AROUND AND THE OLD RUGGED CROSS. BURIAL WAS IN THE SHOAL CREEK CEMETERY, VIBURNUM, MISSOURI. SERVING AS PALLBEARERS WERE BILL ATKINSON, FRANK ATKINSON, DON LAWSON, JAMES HANKLE, DONALD DICUS, RANDY BENSON AND ROY DALE EVANS.
ARRANGEMENTS WERE ENTRUSTED TO THE CARE AND DIRECTION OF MOORE FUNERAL HOMES, POTOSI ~ IRONDALE, MISSOURI.
