VIOLET BEATRICE EVANS
VIOLET (PITTMAN) EVANS OF POTOSI, MISSOURI, WAS BORN JANUARY 16, 1924, IN CHILTON, MISSOURI, A DAUGHTER OF THE LATE ANDREW FRANKLIN AND MARY ELIZABETH (ROY) PITTMAN. VIOLET DEPARTED THIS LIFE AT GEORGIAN GARDENS NURSING HOME ON APRIL 14, 1999, HAVING REACHED THE AGE OF SEVENTY-FIVE YEARS, TWO MONTHS AND TWENTY-NINE DAYS.
VIOLET IS SURVIVED BY TWO SONS, ROBERT FITZGERALD AND WIFE INA OF IRONDALE, JERRY FITZGERALD AND WIFE CAROL OF POTTSTOWN, PA, ONE DAUGHTER, MARY FRANCES LEAVITT OF ANCHORAGE, ALASKA, TEN GRANDCHILDREN, NINE GREAT GRANDCHILDREN, TWO GREAT GREAT GRANDCHILDREN, ONE BROTHER, DONALD PITTMAN AND WIFE IMOGENE OF POTOSI, TWO SISTERS, MAVIS CHARBONEAU OF POTOSI, LUCILLE SANDERS OF POTOSI AND BY SEVERAL NIECES, NEPHEWS OTHER RELATIVES AND FRIENDS. IN ADDITION TO HER PARENTS SHE WAS ALSO PRECEDED IN DEATH BY HER FIRST HUSBAND, EVERETT FRANCIS FITZGERALD WHO PASSED AWAY ON NOVEMBER 18, 1974 AND HER SECOND HUSBAND, DAVID J. EVANS WHO PASSED AWAY ON APRIL 9, 1999.
VIOLET WAS A LONGTIME MEMBER OF THE PLEASANT HILL CHRISTIAN CHURCH, POTOSI. VIOLET LOVED THE BEAUTIFUL COUNTRYSIDE THAT SHE LIVED IN AND ENJOYED CAMPING AND TRAVELING THROUGHOUT IT. VIOLET ENJOYED TAKING TIME TO RELAX READING A VARIETY OF BOOKS. HER FAMILY MEANT A GREAT DEAL TO HER AND EACH OF THEM HELD A VERY DEAR PLACE IN HER HEART.
VISITATION WAS HELD FRIDAY, APRIL 16, 1999, FROM 5:00 P.M. TO 9:00 P.M. AT THE GUM & SON FUNERAL HOME IN POTOSI.
FUNERAL SERVICES WERE CONDUCTED SATURDAY, APRIL 17, 1999, AT 11:00 A.M. AT THE GUM & SON CHAPEL WITH ELDER LEONARD COMPTON OFFICIATING. BURIAL WAS IN PLEASANT HILL CEMETERY UNDER THE DIRECTION OF GUM & SON FUNERAL HOME, POTOSI.
SERVING AS PALLBEARERS WERE, ALLEN SHEPARD, TOM FITZGERALD, STEVE HUITT, MARVIN BERRY, CLAUDE BERRY AND BILL KING.
