Jane Theresa Cantwell Faris of Caledonia, Missouri born on Wednesday, September 9, 1931 in St. Louis, Missouri. Jane departed this life on Saturday, August 10, 2013 at her home surrounded by the love and care of her family. Jane was Eighty-one years, eleven months and one day of age.
Jane is the daughter of the late Jane Cummings Cantwell and Harry James Cantwell. She was united in Marriage to Rubin Faris on November 3, 1950 in Graniteville, Missouri. Rubin preceded Jane in death on March 20, 1997.
Jane is survived by daughters Jane Kevin Waite of Terre Du Lac, Monica Reed and husband Edward of Ozark, Victoria Jones of Halltown, Kimberly Fisher and husband Bob of Bismarck, Lisa Taylor and husband Dwain of Bismarck, Abby Tesene and husband David of Manhattan, Kansas; special daughters, Teresa Worden of Cape Girardeau. Sandra Hopson of Caledonia, Eleven grandchildren, ten great grandchildren, three sisters, Glendy Lovelace of Manchester, Catherine Francka and husband Jake of Brighton and Abigail Hawkins-Bast and husband Bob of Florissant. Two sisters-in-law, Faye Lambert and husband Loyal of O’Fallon and Josephine Cantwell of St. Louis and by many other dear and special relatives and friends. In addition to her parents and husband, she was also preceded in death by one daughter, Amy Marie Faris and grandson Ryan Lands. Two brothers, Cornelius Cantwell and Harry James Cantwell.
Prior to her retirement, Jane was a Postal Carrier for the United States Postal Service. She had a great admiration for Politics and was very active in the Democrat Club of Washington County and the State of Missouri. She was Mayor of Caledonia from 1979 to 1983 and 1986 to 1998. During her term as mayor the current water and sewer system was established. Jane was very active with the Community Betterment and was a charter member and first officer, she wrote the first Caledonia Community Betterment Project Book. Her Love for her family was extended to the community. Jane was an original member of the Caledonia Stitch in Time Club starting in 1962 to the present. The club participated in civic and community affairs and donated time and money to the many different health funds and was always lending a helping hand to those in need.
Jane’s family was the light of her life. Each of them held a very dear and special place in her heart. Her grandchildren could bring a warm smile to her face and a sparkle to her eye whenever they were around.
Jane’s life touched many; not only in her family, but also in the community she loved and served. Her many accomplishments and her leadership, have left this community a better place.
Visitation was held Tuesday, August 13, 2013 from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM and Wednesday, August 14, 2013 from 8:30 AM to 10:40 AM at the Moore Funeral Home, Potosi, Missouri.
A Mass of Christian Burial was Celebrated Wednesday, August 14, 2013 at 11:00 AM at the St. James Catholic Church with Reverend Richard Tillman officiating.
Final Prayers and Burial was at the Caledonia Methodist Cemetery. Honoring the Life of Jane serving, as Pallbearers; were Dwain Taylor, Eddie Reed, David Tesene, Rodney Jones, Max Hobson and Bob Fisher. Honorary Pallbearer was Alan Smith.
Moore Funeral Homes was Honored to be selected to direct the services for Jane, her family and friends.
