Melvin Farris
Melvin Farris of Cadet, Missouri was born on June 13, 1956 in Potosi, Missouri. He was the son of the late William Farris and Alene (Pashia) Farris. Melvin departed this life on Friday, April 14, 2006 at the Washington County Memorial Hospital having reached the age of forty-nine years, ten months, and one day.
Melvin was united in marriage to Linda S. Courtway on May 3, 1977 in Hillsboro, Missouri.
He is survived by his loving wife Linda Farris of Cadet, Missouri; two daughters, Sarah Farris of Potosi, Missouri, Kay Tatum and husband George of St. Louis, Missouri; two sons, Danny Courtway of Potosi, Missouri, Tim Farris of Potosi, Missouri; three sisters, Joan Graham and husband Jim of Cadet, Missouri, Connie Crider and husband Melvin of Cadet, Missouri, Brenda Wright of Potosi, Missouri; five brothers, Willie Farris and wife Marilyn of Cadet, Missouri, Donald Farris and wife Flossie of Cadet, Missouri, Randy Farris and wife Susan of Potosi, Missouri, Mike Farris and wife Crissy of Potosi, Missouri, Bryan Farris of Bismarck, Missouri; six grandchildren, Kayla, George, Jacob, Martina, Ashley, and Tim Jr. Melvin was preceded in death by his parents; and brother, Lester Farris.
Melvin loved spending time with his family, children, and especially his grandchildren. He enjoyed working on cars and going to yard sales. He also loved the outdoors, going deer hunting, and enjoying the many gifts of mother nature. When Melvin killed his first deer he was very proud of his accomplishment. He will be deeply missed by his family and many friends.
Visitation was held Monday, April 17, 2006 from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM at Moore Funeral Homes, Potosi, Missouri.
A Funeral Service was held Tuesday, April 18, 2006 at 10:00 AM at the Moore Memorial Chapel, Potosi, Missouri with Reverend Bill Warren officiating.
Burial took place in the New Diggins Cemetery, Mineral Point, Missouri. Serving as Pallbearers were Willie Farris, Bruce Farries, Mike Farris, Bryan Farris, George Tatum and Randy Farris.
Services were Entrusted to the Care and Direction of the Moore Funeral Homes, 105 Clark Street, Potosi, Missouri.
