Charles L. Ferrell, 77 of Silex, MO, formerly of Irondale MO, passed away on Thursday, January 3, 2013 at his residence. He was born on December 18, 1935 in Leadwood, MO, the son of the late Zellie and Evelyn (Beck) Ferrell.
Charles was united in marriage to the love of his life, Rebecca Counts on November 30, 1956 Irondale, MO. To this union they were blessed to have five children born; Randy, Duane, Melinda, Pamela, and Kathleen.
Charles is survived by his beloved wife, Rebecca Ferrell of Silex, MO, two sons: Randy Ferrell and wife Jackie of Arnold, MO, Duane Ferrell of Park Hills, MO, and three daughters: Melinda Cromer and husband Norman of Doe Run, MO, Pamela and husband Ron Ryback of Festus, MO, and Kathleen Smith of Silex, MO, 11 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren, four brothers: Lester Ferrell and wife Marilyn of DeSoto, MO, Donald and wife Caroline Ferrell of Leadington, MO, and Roger Ferrell and wife Geraldine of Maryland Heights, MO, David Ferrell of Irondale and by many other relatives and friends.
After attending the local schools he enlisted in the United States Army. In 1956 he received his honorable discharge. For about a decade Charles worked as a St. Louis City police officer. He also worked as a truck driver for many years. Charles was a loving father to his children and caring husband to his wife Rebecca. In his spare time he like to hunt and go fishing. He will be remembered lovingly by all those who knew him.
A memorial visitation will be held at Moore Funeral Home in Irondale, MO, on Sunday, January 6, 2013, from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m.
A memorial funeral service will be held Sunday, January 6, 2013 at 1:00 PM at the Moore Funeral Home, Irondale with the Reverend Bruce Torrence officiating.
