Terry Wayne Fortner of Irondale, Missouri was born in St. Louis, Missouri on July 23, 1947. He was the son of the late Earmel and Louise (Hart) Fortner. Terry departed this life Saturday, April 9, 2005 at his residence surrounded by his loving and caring family, having reached the age of fifty-seven years eight months and seventeen days.
Terry was united in marriage to Tammy Marie (Harrington) Fortner in Doe Run, Missouri on January 20, 1982.
He is survived by his wife Tammy Marie Fortner of Irondale, Missouri, five daughters; Kristi Cossins and husband DeWayne of Salem, Missouri, Crystal Buffington and husband Jason of Belleview, Missouri, Christine O’Connor and Josh Dement of Farmington, Missouri, Terri Lynn Fortner of St. James, Missouri, Victoria Fortner of the home, two sons; Kevin Wayne Fortner and Erin Fitzwater of Mineral Point, Missouri, Troy Wayne Fortner and wife Tonia of Cadet, Missouri, four brothers; Reverend Tom Fortner and wife Paula of Norwood, Missouri, Dale Fortner and wife Norma of Potosi, Missouri, Bryan Fortner of and wife Loretta of Irondale, Missouri, Paul Fortner and wife Mary of Bismarck, Missouri, a sister; Shelley Drake and husband Jim of Belgrade, Missouri, seven grandchildren, and mother-in-law Loretta Harrington of Irondale, Missouri. He is also survived by a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, and many other friends. He was preceded in death by a son Terry Wayne Fortner Jr., and two brothers Charles Earmel Fortner, Jimmy Douglas Fortner.
Terry enjoyed the many gifts of Mother Nature and loved spending time in the outdoors, doing vegetable gardening, riding his Massey Ferguson Tractor when he and his family lived on their farm. He loved spending time with his family especially his grandchildren. He also enjoyed listening to country music and watching CMT and loved apple pie.
Visitation was held 5:30 P.M. to 9:00 P.M. on Monday, April 11, 2005 and Tuesday, April 12, 2005 from 9:00 A.M. to 11:00 A.M. at Moore Funeral Home in Irondale, Missouri.
The Funeral Service was conducted at 11:00 A.M. on Tuesday, April 12, 2005 at the Irondale Chapel with Reverend Dwight Jones officiating. Musical selections played were “Silver and Gold”, “Daddy’s Hand” and “Go Rest High on That Mountain”.
Burial was in the Big River Cemetery on April 12, 2005 at 12:00 P.M. Serving as Pallbearers were Josh DeMent, Jason Buffington, D.J. Fortner, Terry Patterson, Jr., Aaron Fortner, Brandon Welker, Frank Fortner and Nathan Fortner.
Services were Entrusted to the Care and Direction of the Moore Funeral Home, 109 Oak Street, Potosi, Missouri.
