Mildred F. Gau of Potosi, Missouri was born Monday, September 23, 1940 in Potosi, Missouri a daughter of the late Ruseal (Sawyer) Gau and Franklin Henry Gau. Mildred departed this life on Friday, November 30, 2007 at the Washington County Memorial Hospital at the age of Sixty-seven years, Two months and Seven days.

Mildred is survived by her brother, William “Bill” Gau and his wife Denise of Irondale; two very dear and special nephews, Jacob Gau and Neil Gau and many other dear and special relatives and friends. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by one sister, Dorothy Delores Gau.

Mildred was a long time member of the Furnace Creek Church of God and enjoyed all of the Church activities. She loved spending time with her family and many friends. She cherished the time and love shared with her nephews, Jacob and Neil. Mildred had worked for the Division of Family Services for 35 years. At the time of her retirement she was a Supervisor with the Washington County Division. Mildred enjoyed volunteering and visiting, she was a member of many women’s clubs of Missouri including Les Petites Society, Mine A Breton Historical Society, Tuesday Ladies Club and was the Treasurer of the Alumni Assoc.

Mildred was an avid reader and enjoyed listening to music. She was always a very well organized lady and will be remembered for her great ability to keep records of many events in excellent order. She was always ready to visit and discuss current events. Mildred enjoyed gardening and loved the family farm. She was very interested in anything artistic, especially painting and crafts.

Mildred had a great love for people and enjoyed entertaining during the holidays especially Thanksgiving and Christmas. She had a great flair for decorating her home and loved to travel throughout the United States with her last big trip consisting of 7000 miles.

Visitation was held Sunday, December 2, 2007 from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM and Monday, December 3, 2007 from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the Moore Funeral Home, Potosi, Missouri.

A Funeral Service was held Monday, December 3, 2007 at 11:00 AM at the Moore Memorial Chapel, Potosi, Missouri with Reverend Jim Muse officiating. Serving as pallbearers were: Jacob Gau, Neil Gau, Jr. Bush, Don Gau, Sr., Andy Isgriggs and Teresa Vandermeulen.

Final Prayers and Burial took place in the Caledonia Methodist Cemetery, Caledonia, Missouri.

Services were Entrusted to the Care and Direction of the Moore Funeral Homes, 105 Clark Street, Potosi, Missouri.
