Erma E. Geier
Erma Etta Geier of Potosi, Missouri was born Wednesday, October 3, 1919 in Ebo, Missouri a daughter of the late Eura May (Horton) McGuire and Harrison “Shorty” McGuire. Erma departed this life Friday, December 8, 2006 at the Potosi Manor Care Center at the age of Eighty-seven years, Two months and Seven days.
Erma was united in marriage to the late Charles Geier who departed life on January 19, 1977.
Erma is survived by her dear and caring brother, George McGuire of Hopewell, Missouri; brother-in-law, Ralph E. Johnson of St. Charles, Missouri; many nieces, nephews and other relatives and many dear and special friends. In addition to her parents and husband, she was also preceded in death by one son Earnest “Ernie” Geier, four sisters, Bonnie Beeson, Anna May Guthrie, Dollie Johnson and Dorothy McGuire, one brother, Joseph Ralph McGuire.
Erma was well known in the area by many nature lovers for her extensive knowledge in the horticulture business and for her service to many in the surrounding area as a owner of Geier’s Greenhouse. After the greenhouse business became too much for her and Mrs. Yonker, Erma opened a Flea Market and Furniture store for many years. She had sales with ten or more dealers in her store. Erma loved cooking and was always ready to prepare a meal for the family gathering. She was remembered for her chicken and dumplings, corn bread dressing and pies. She loved to bake cakes, pies and other desserts, but will forever be remembered for her pies. She loved to spend time reading about and working with flowers and gardening. She was an avid reader and enjoyed reading anything she could and especially her Bible. She loved to take time and go camping and fishing with family and friends. Erma was a kind hearted loving lady who never met a stranger and knew all of Washington County.
Visitation was held Sunday, December 10, 2006 from 4:00 PM to 9:00 PM and Monday, December 11, 2006 from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the Moore Funeral Home, Potosi, Missouri.
A Funeral Service was held Monday, December 11, 2006 at 11:00 AM at the Moore Memorial Chapel, Potosi, Missouri with Reverend Jeff Richards officiating with Brother Dale Blount assisting. Honoring Erma by serving as pallbearers were: Tim Huey, Gurney Radford, Eric Stricklin, Doyle Tawfall, Brian Wilkins and Al Kundl.
Final Prayer and Burial took place in the Caledonia Methodist Cemetery, Caledonia, Missouri.
Services were Entrusted to the Care and Direction of the Moore Funeral Homes, 105 Clark Street, Potosi, Missouri.
