Gilbert Woodrow Badgley, affectionately known as "Bear," peacefully passed away on August 8, 2023, in St. Charles, Missouri, at the age of 79. Born on December 24, 1943, in Courtois, Missouri, Gilbert was a country boy at heart, finding solace and contentment sitting on his front porch in the peacefulness of a small town.
Gilbert began his educational journey at Valley High School in Caledonia, Missouri, where he laid the foundation for his future endeavors. Following his graduation, he embarked on a successful career with General Motors, dedicating 35 years of his life to the company. He worked in both St. Louis, Missouri, and Bowling Green, Kentucky, until his well-deserved retirement.
Outside of his professional life, Gilbert was a man of many passions and hobbies. He had a natural talent for cooking and baking, delighting his loved ones with delicious creations from his kitchen. Additionally, he took great pride in his extensive vegetable garden, cultivating fresh produce that brought joy to his table. Gilbert also enjoyed engaging in various outdoor yard activities, cherishing the beauty of nature that surrounded him.
Gilbert's most cherished role in life was that of a loving father and grandfather. He is survived by his children, Michael Badgley and wife Donna, Michelle Barillier, and Tanya Badgley, who will forever hold his memory close to their hearts. Gilbert's legacy continues through his adored grandchildren, Sydney Chitwood and husband MacKenzie, Jake Badgley, Quinn Badgley, and great-grandchild, Lincoln Chitwood, Nephew- Stephen Benson.
Gilbert was preceded in death by his father, Ralph Badgley, his mother, Mary Badgley, and his sister, Sandra Barnes (Badgley)
Gilbert will forever be remembered for his kind heart, his love for his family, and his unwavering dedication to his passions. May he rest in eternal peace.
