JAMES EDWARD GILLIAM SR.
JAMES GILLIAM OF POTOSI, MISSOURI, WAS BORN ON NOVEMBER 22, 1926 IN PALMER, MISSOURI. A SON OF THE LATE ED AND HALLIE (COFFMAN) GILLIAM. EDWARD DEPARTED THIS LIFE ON NOVEMBER 21, 1999 HAVING REACHED THE AGE OF SEVENTY TWO YEARS, ELEVEN MONTHS AND TWENTY NINE DAYS.
JAMES WAS UNITED IN MARRIAGE TO DOROTHY LAUVON TURNER IN JUNE, 1965 AND FOUR CHILDREN WERE BORN TO THIS MARRIAGE.
JAMES IS SURVIVED BY HIS LOVING AND DEVOTED WIFE MARGARET (BOYSTER) GILLIAM. TWO SONS, JAMES E. GILLIAM JR. AND WIFE JOAN OF POTOSI AND DAVID LEE GILLIAM OF POTOSI. ONE DAUGHTER, MARY ANN MILLER AND HUSBAND RANDALL OF SALEM, MISSOURI. TWO STEP-SONS, WALTER HIGGINBOTHAM AND WIFE CONNIE OF POTOSI AND JEFFREY HIGGINBOTHAM OF WORCESTER, MASSACHUSETTS. FOUR GRANDCHILDREN, JAMIE AND JARED GILLIAM, JOSEPH AND JESSE MILLER AND TWO STEP- GRANDCHILDREN, JEREMY AND JUSTIN HIGGINBOTHAM. ONE SISTER, SADIE M. HILL AND HUSBAND LEON OF BELGRADE, MISSOURI.
IN ADDITION TO HIS FIRST WIFE, JAMES WAS PRECEDED IN DEATH BY AN INFANT DAUGHTER, HALLIE MARIE GILLIAM, TWO BROTHERS, TRUMAN AND JOHNNY GILLIAM, THREE SISTERS, VELMA JINKERSON, GENNY SKAGGS AND GOLDIE DELASHMIT.
JAMES WAS A LOVER OF THE GREAT OUTDOORS. HE AND HIS SON DAVID ENJOYED MANY OUTDOOR ACTIVITIES TOGETHER. HUNTING AND FISHING WERE JUST A COUPLE OF HIS FAVORITES. JAMES WAS THE KINDEST AND GENTLEST MAN ANYONE WOULD EVER WANT TO MEET. HE LOVED HIS FAMILY AND CHERISHED HIS MANY FRIENDS.
JAMES WILL BE SADLY MISSED AND LOVINGLY REMEMBERED FOR HIS CHEERFUL OPTIMISM AND HIS KIND AND LOVING NATURE.
VISITATION WAS HELD ON TUESDAY, NOVEMBER 23, 1999, FROM 5:30 P.M. TO 9:00 P.M. AT MOORE FUNERAL HOME IN POTOSI.
FUNERAL SERVICES WERE CONDUCTED WEDNESDAY, NOVEMBER 24, 1999 AT 2:00 P.M. AT MOORE FUNERAL HOME WITH REVEREND BRYCE WILSON AND REVEREND TISHA M. MUNDY OFFICIATING. BURIAL WAS IN THE PALMER CEMETERY UNDER THE DIRECTION OF MOORE FUNERAL HOME, POTOSI.
SERVING AS PALLBEARERS WERE, PERRY FARROW, CLEATIS SNOWDELL, TOM HOLLAND, RANDY MILLER, WALTER HIGGINBOTHAM, JEFF HIGGINBOTHAM, ERVIN BREAKFIELD AND DARRELL DICUS.
