Winfred “Wint” Gilman
“Wint” Gilman of Belgrade, Missouri was born on Sunday, July 5, 1914 in Elvins, Missouri. A son of the late, Ella Elzena (Sherrill) Gilman and Edward “Huzzah” Gilman. “Wint” departed this life on Wednesday, August 1, 2007 at St. Louis University Medical Center, St. Louis, Missouri having reached the age of ninety-three years and twenty-seven days.
“Wint” was united in marriage to Virginia E. Hood on June 14, 1941 in Farmington, Missouri and were blessed with two daughters.
“Wint” is survived by his loving wife, Virginia E. Gilman of Belgrade, Missouri; two daughters, Ellen Kearns and husband Edwin of Belgrade, Missouri, Carolyn Tiefenauer and husband Calbert of Caledonia, Missouri; six grandchildren, Jeff Kearns and special friend Tina, Matt Kearns and wife Gina, Jason Civey and wife Jennifer, Anita Burch and husband Bruce, Lisa Favaro and husband Dave, Rhonda Harpole and husband Bill; sixteen great-grandchildren, Joshua, Jordan, David, Brandon, Rachael, Alex, Kaitlyn, Derek, Ryan, Madeline, Andrew, Dominic, Alex, Gentry, Jared and Daeton; two great-great grandchildren, Cloe and Cole; two nieces, Sherry Jones and husband Derek, Shirley Hood and one nephew, Robert L. Hood; also surviving are many other relatives and friends. In addition to his parents “Wint” was preceded in death by one sister, Olla Adams, one brother, Leman Gilman and one grandchild, Laura Ann Civey.
“Wint” worked as a driller at St. Joe Mines for over fifteen years. He enjoyed working on his farm and going hunting for duck and quail and also enjoyed fishing. “Wint” was a very kind and generous man who will be very lovingly missed by his loved ones.
Visitation was held Friday, August 3, 2007 from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM at the Moore Funeral Home, Potosi, Missouri and Saturday, August 4, 2007 from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the Belgrade United Methodist Church, Belgrade, Missouri.
A Funeral Service was held Saturday, August 4, 2007 at 11:00 AM at the Belgrade United Methodist Church, Belgrade, Missouri with Reverend Julius Ketsenburg officiating. Serving as pallbearers were: Jason Civey, Jeff Kearns, Matt Kearns, Joshua Kearns, Jordan Kearns, David Kearns and honorary pallbearers, Brandon Kearns, Derek Burch, Ryan Burch and Daeton Bigford.
Final Prayers and Burial took place in the Sunlight Cemetery, Belgrade, Missouri.
Services were Entrusted to the Care and Direction of the Moore Funeral Homes, 105 Clark Street, Potosi, Missouri.
