Philip James Goff, known by family and friends as Jim, departed this life on Thursday, October 2, 2014 at the age of Seventy-four years, seven months and four days, at his home in Cadet, Missouri surrounded by the love and care of his family and friends. Jim was born Wednesday, February 28, 1940 in Cadet, Missouri, a son of the late Mary Ethel (DeGonia) Goff and Rudolph Goff.
Jim is survived by three sons and two daughter-in-laws; Allen Goff of San Antonio, Texas; Avery James Goff and his wife Lavonna of Robertsville, Missouri; Vance Wade Goff and his wife Carla of Cadet, Missouri; his sister, Emogene Goff and special friend Dale Nash of Cadet, Missouri; Seven Grandchildren, Lee, Amber, Kayla, Joseph, Jennifer, Michelle and Roy; Eighteen great grandchildren; his soul mate, Mary Nancy Goff of Cadet, Missouri and by many other relatives and dear and special friends. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by two brothers, Aaron Goff and Darrell “Bee” Goff.
Jim loved life to the fullest and enjoyed the family gatherings. He always had time to pick up his guitar and play and sing. He made it a point in his days to always make people laugh. He looked forward to the many dune buggy rides, hayrides and finding the right time to play a practical joke every time he would get a chance.
Jim was a member of the Am Vets, Elks, Eagles and the Knights of Columbus. He was always ready to go and help with the many cookouts at the Knights of Columbus.
Visitation was held Sunday, October 5, 2014 from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM and Monday, October 6, 2014 from 8:30 AM to 9:30 AM at the Moore Funeral Home, Potosi. A Memorial Service was held Sunday, October 5, 2014 at 6:00 PM at the Moore Funeral Home with Father Tony Dattilo leading.
The Funeral Mass was celebrated Monday, October 6, 2014 at 10:00 AM at the St. Joachim Catholic Church, Old Mines, Missouri with Father Tony Dattilo officiating. The St. Joachim Church Choir provided music for the Mass.
Final Prayers and Burial was in the St. Joachim Catholic Church Cemetery. Honoring the Memory and Life of Jim and serving, as Pallbearers were Roy Boyer, Joe Lunsford, Lonnie Goff, Brandon Goff, Junior Gamblin, Jared Gamblin, Bruce Coleman and Wade Coleman.
