Mary S. Govero of Old Mines, Missouri was born on September 10, 1913 in Bliss, Missouri a daughter of the late, Elvina (Merseal) Sampson and Thomas Sampson. Mary Susan departed this life on February 23, 2008 at Potosi Manor Nursing Home, Potosi, Missouri having reached the age of ninety-four years, five months and thirteen days.

Mary Susan was united in marriage to Patrick Joseph Govero on January 25, 1931 in Richwoods, Missouri. Mary Susan and Patrick were blessed with ten children.

Mary is survived by three sons, Victor Govero of Old Mines, Missouri, Chad Govero and wife, Patricia of Potosi, Missouri, Lawrence “Junior” Govero and wife, Janet of Old Mines, Missouri; seven daughters, Josephine Blount and husband, Wayne of Florissant, Missouri, Irene Thebeau and husband, Leonard “Jiggs” of Old Mines, Missouri, Aurelia Wills of St. Louis, Missouri, Verna Coleman and husband, Roger of Cadet, Missouri, Teresa Giratos and husband, Michael, Jr. of St. Louis, Missouri, Mary Warden and husband, Lawrence of St. Peters, Missouri, Sharon Brown and husband, Patrick of St. Louis, Missouri; twenty-six grandchildren, fifty-four great grandchildren, eleven great great grandchildren and two sisters-in-law; also surviving are nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Mary was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Patrick on January 19, 1991, five brothers, Tom, Albert, Russell, Johnny and Leo, one great grandchild, Lauren Blount and one great great grandchild, Nicholas Powers.

Mary loved family get togethers and holidays. She loved her grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren. Mary also loved working in the garden, canning, cooking, baking, attending church picnics and embroidering. Every Sunday she would fix a family dinner with her favorite being fried chicken. She was always singing when she would bake or cook. She liked going places when she could and every chance she got. She enjoyed going to listen to music and going to the casino whenever she got a chance. She was a parishioner of the St. Joachim Catholic Church, Old Mines, Missouri. She also enjoyed going to the Senior Citizens.

Visitation was held Tuesday, February 26, 2008 from 4:00 PM to 9:00 PM and Wednesday, February 27, 2008 from 8:00 AM to 9:45 AM at the Moore Funeral Homes, Potosi, Missouri.

A Funeral Mass was celebrated Tuesday, February 27, 2008 at 10:00 AM at the St. Joachim Catholic Church, Old Mines, Missouri with Father Ted Pieper officiating. Serving as pallbearers were: Ken Blount, Michael Bone, Carl Wills, Tim Bone, Brian Govero, Nicholas Thebeau, Brian Govero, Scott Coleman, Michael Giratos, Patrick Giratos, Jeff Govero, Chris Govero and Wesley Warden.

Final Prayers and burial took place in the St. Joachim Cemetery, Old Mines, Missouri.

Services were Entrusted to the Care and Direction of the Moore Funeral Homes, 105 Clark Street, Potosi, Missouri.
