Robert D. Griffey
Robert D. “Griff” Griffey of Potosi, Missouri was born September 17, 1910 in Denver, Colorado a son of the late Ann (Adams) Griffey and Martin Griffey. Griff departed this life Friday, August 20, 2004 at the Potosi Manor Care Center, Potosi, Missouri at the age of Ninety-three years, Eleven months and Three days.
Griff was united in marriage to Jessie Mineff July 18, 1935 and was blessed to have Two daughters born to the union.
Griff is survived by his loving and devoted wife of Sixty-nine years, Jessie Griffey of Potosi, Missouri; Two daughters, Diane Linsin and husband Orvie of Frontenac, Missouri, Kathleen Chappel and husband Sherman of Ste. Genevieve, Missouri; Two sisters, Virginia Rau and husband Earl of Denver, Colorado, Beth Kudalis of Denver, Colorado; Four grandchildren, Christine Haack and husband Steve of St. Louis, Missouri, Mike Linsin and wife Jackie of San Diego, California, Ann Willis and husband Clint of Jackson, Missouri, Krista Hassen of Ste. Genevieve, Missouri; four great grandchildren, Andrew, Joseph, Stephen and Dacon and by many other relatives and dear friends.
Prior to Griff’s retirement he was employed by Pfizer Company as an Engineer. He loved the Mining industry and was always working to improve its many business and environmental ventures. He enjoyed playing golf and walking around the town. Griff loved to relax with a book and would read for hours. He had a great love for the arts, always ready to go to an art show or the art museum and the opera as he enjoyed going to the St. Louis Opera House or relaxing at home listening to the music.
Griff was a man of many virtues and would always stand for right. The welfare of others was first in his mind.
Griff had made the gift of Anatomical Donation to the University of Missouri, School of Medicine, Columbia, Missouri to further help people.
In Griff’s memory and honor, Memorial gifts may be made to the Hope Lodge, St. Louis, Missouri. A lodge for Cancer patients and families during their struggle of illness.
Arrangements were entrusted to the Care and Direction of the Moore Funeral Homes, Potosi, Missouri.
