Mary M. Guffy
Mary Guffy of Potosi, Missouri was born on Wednesday, March 1, 1911 in St. James, Missouri a daughter of the late, Minnie Mae (Clark) Matlock and Ferd Matlock. Mary departed this life on Thursday, April 17, 2008 at the Potosi Manor Nursing Home, Potosi, Missouri at the age of Ninety Seven years, One month and Sixteen days.
Mary was united in marriage to Nathaniel Burdette Guffy on March 28, 1936 in St. Louis, Missouri and this union was blessed with one daughter.
Mary is survived by nieces, Jo Anne Griggs of St. Louis, Missouri, Nancy Kline of St. Louis, Missouri, Mary Ann Mulrooney of Seattle, Washington; nephews, Medwick Matlock of Dyer, Indiana, Herman “Pistol” Matlock of Malone, New York; also surviving is her church family and many many friends. In addition to her parents, Mary was preceded in death by her loving husband, Nathaniel “Burt” Guffy on April 15, 1985 and daughter, Della Guffy on December 10, 2006, two sisters, Bertha Martin, Sarah Mulrooney and three brothers, Archie Matlock, Henry Matlock and Herman Matlock.
Mary was a faithful member of the Covenant Grace Church of God, Springtown, Missouri. She enjoyed traveling all over the United States and sewing. Mary loved Della and the time they spent together. She will be cherished in the hearts of all she has touched.
Visitation was held Saturday, April 19, 2008 from 4:00 PM to 9:00 PM and Sunday, April 20, 2008 from 11:00 AM to 2:00 PM at the Moore Funeral Home, Potosi, Missouri.
A Funeral Service was held Sunday, April 20, 2008 at 2:00 PM at the Moore Memorial Chapel, Potosi, Missouri with Reverend Bob Thurman officiating.
Final Prayers and Burial took place in the Redbud Memorial Gardens, Potosi, Missouri. Serving as Pallbearers were Roy Kean, Rick Wade, Ray Rulo, Cleo Shepard, Bob Pyatt and Medwick Matlock.
Services were Entrusted to the Care and Direction of the Moore Funeral Homes, 105 Clark Street, Potosi, Missouri.
