John "Bud" Haguewood

January 11, 1930 — June 20, 2008

John “Bud” Haguewood of Potosi, Missouri was born on January 11, 1930 in Potosi, Missouri a son of the late, Gladys (Strayer) Haguewood and James Haguewood. “Bud” departed this life on June 20, 2008 at the Missouri Baptist Medical Center, St. Louis, Missouri having reached the age of seventy-eighty years, five months and nine days.

“Bud” was united in marriage to Oneida Howell on June 25, 1948 at the United Methodist Church, Potosi, Missouri by Reverend Gray.

“Bud” is survived by his loving wife, Oneida Haguewood of Potosi, Missouri; one daughter, Christine Jobe and husband, David of Wentzville, Missouri; one son, Doug Haguewood and wife, Linda of Potosi, Missouri; five grandchildren, Sarah (Bradley) Swank, Brad, Ryan (Andrea), John Brandon and Danielle; one great grandchild, Lillie; sister-in-law, Ann Haguewood of Potosi, Missouri; one nephew; friends of thirty-five years, Mahlon and Betty McNabb of Potosi, Missouri. In addition to his parents, “Bud” was preceded in death by two brothers, James L. Haguewood, Harry Strayer, two sisters, Helen Maxwell and Dorothy Politte.

“Bud” was a long time member of the Potosi United Methodist Church and was the longest living member at the time of his death.

“Bud” enjoyed spending time outdoors camping, fishing, boating and riding his motorcycle within the United States and Canada. He loved spending time with his family and cherished the moments spent with each of them. “Bud” was a very active man not only with his family but in the community also. He enjoyed flying in his younger years and was very active and instrumental in getting an airport in Washington County. He had served on many community committees where he was able to share his knowledge of construction and his love for people. He was a past member of the City of Potosi Housing Authority, the Junior Chamber of Commerce and City of Potosi IDA. In his spare time “Bud” was a craftsman in the woodworking field and enjoyed doing inlaid furniture work.

Visitation for “Bud” was held Sunday, June 22, 2008, from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM and Monday, June 23, 2008 from 8:30 AM to 11:00 AM at the Moore Funeral Homes, Potosi, MO.

Funeral Services were held Monday, June 23, 2008 at the Moore Memorial Chapel with Brother Leonard Compton officiating. Wayne Thornton provided special music for the service.

Final Prayers and Burial was at the Redbud Memorial Gardens, Potosi, MO. Honoring the memory and legacy of “Bud” serving as Pallbearers were Andrea Jobe, Ryan Jobe, Sara Swank, Bradley Swank, Danielle Haguewood and John Brandon Haguewood.

Services were entrusted to the Care and Direction of the Moore Funeral Homes, 105 Clark St., Potosi, MO
