DOROTHY C. HAWK
DOROTHY CATHERINE HAWK OF IRONDALE, MISSOURI WAS BORN SATURDAY, DECEMBER 10, 1910 IN NEWTON, IOWA, A DAUGHTER OF THE LATE ANNA (FOX) DAVIS AND THE LATE ANTHONY DAVIS. DOROTHY DEPARTED THIS LIFE ON SATURDAY, JANUARY 8, 2000 AT HER HOME AT THE AGE OF EIGHTY-NINE YEARS AND TWENTY-NINE DAYS.
DOROTHY WAS UNITED IN MARRIAGE TO THE LATE LONAS "JOE" HAWK ON DECEMBER 23, 1926 IN IRONTON, MISSOURI, THEY WERE BLESSED TO HAVE FOUR SONS BORN TO THE UNION.
DOROTHY IS SURVIVED BY TWELVE GRANDCHILDREN, BRUCE HAWK OF ARNOLD, MISSOURI; JEFF WINTERS OF UTAH; DEBBIE HAWK OF ST. LOUIS, MISSOURI; BECKY HAWK OF POTOSI, MISSOURI; TONY HAWK AND WIFE JOE OF TEXAS; DONITA MCAULEY AND HUSBAND RICK OF ARNOLD, MISSOURI; TRACEY TUREK OF WISCONSIN; PERRY DEAN CAMDEN OF MISSOURI; PATRICIA LOTT AND HUSBAND BERT OF LOUISIANA; JEFF HAWK AND WIFE SHEILA OF ROLLA; MARK HAWK OF GILBERTSVILLE, KENTUCKY; PATRICK HAWK OF BATON ROUGE, LOUISIANA; FOURTEEN GREAT GRANDCHILDREN; ONE GREAT GREAT GRANDSON; THREE DAUGHTERS-IN-LAW, BARBARA ANN HAWK OF FENTON, BARBARA ANN HAWK OF GILBERTSVILLE, KENTUCKY AND JUDY PAPPAS OF FLORIDA. IN ADDITION TO HER PARENTS AND HUSBAND, DOROTHY WAS ALSO PRECEDED IN DEATH BY HER FOUR SONS, WILLIAM DAVIS HAWK, GEORGE LESTER HAWK, HAROLD EUGENE HAWK AND RALPH LEROY HAWK; BY ONE GRANDSON, BILLY HAWK; TWO SISTERS, MARGARET ESTER AND EILEEN ESTHER.
DOROTHY HAD MANY DREAMS AND SPECIAL PRAYERS FOR THOSE SHE LOVED, SHE WAS MORE THAN A HOUSEWIFE AND MOTHER, SHE WAS THE HAND THAT CORRECTED, THE HEART THAT CARED AND THE ARMS THAT HELD. DOROTHY HAD A SPECIAL WAY TO MAKE A HOUSE A HOME AND PEOPLE A FAMILY. SHE LOVED TO HEAR THE MUSIC OF GOSPEL SONGS AND TO LET THEM LEAVE A GREAT MESSAGE IN HER MIND.
ONE OF DOROTHY'S LAST WRITINGS LEFT US WITH THIS MESSAGE, " DO NOT BE SAD, JUST THINK! I DO NOT HURT ANY MORE.
VISITATION WAS HELD SUNDAY, JANUARY 9, 2000, FROM 3:30 P.M. TO 8:00 P.M. AT MOORE FUNERAL HOME IN IRONDALE.
FUNERAL SERVICES WERE CONDUCTED MONDAY, JANUARY 10, 2000, AT 10:00 A.M. WITH REVEREND MARY FLING OFFICIATING. BURIAL WAS IN MOUNTAIN VIEW CEMETERY, DES ARC, MISSOURI, UNDER THE DIRECTION OF MOORE FUNERAL HOME, IRONDALE.
SERVING AS PALLBEARERS WERE, JEFF HAWK, MARK HAWK, PATRICK HAWK, SHAWN HAWK, JIM MATHEWS AND ERIC WILLIAMS.
