JESSIE FRANCES HENDERSON
Jessie Frances Henderson passed away April 16, 2000, in St. Louis, Missouri, at the age of eighty-eight. She was born August 15, 1911, in Iron County, Missouri, to the late Charles Preston and Louise (Orrick) Light.
She was united in marriage to Dolph E. Henderson on January 31, 1931. He passed away February 14, 1977.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her son Wayne E., grandson Dwayne E., brother Edward Light and sister Gladys Clyde.
Those who remain to mourn her passing are her son Wallace G. and his wife Jan of St. Louis, Missouri: sisters-in-law Eva Henry of St. Charles, Missouri, and Iris Henderson of DeSoto, Missouri; brothers-in-law Eugene Henry of St. Charles, Missouri, and William Lotz of Ironton, Missouri; cousins, nieces nephews and friends who will sadly miss her.
Prior to her marriage to the late Dolph Henderson, Mrs. Henderson taught school in what was then called the "little one-room schoolhouse", where one teacher taught students in the first through the eighth grades. She spent her early life in the Belleview Valley. In 1942 she and her family moved to Potosi, Missouri, where she was associated with many Washington Countians through the shoe factory. She was a dedicated wife, mother and grandmother, living her life for her family. Second to her family was her love for her gardens, vegetable and flower. She always sowed lettuce on Valentine's Day, even if she had to scrape away the snow to do so. She and Dolph were great followers of the Potosi Trojan High School teams as well as the "ole Red Raiders" at which they always had front row seats.
Services were held April 19, 2000, at Moore Funeral Home in Potosi, Missouri, and burial was at the Arcadia Valley Memorial Cemetery with Reverend Robert Bullock of the United Methodist Church officiating. James Trolinger, James Taylor Richards, George B. Richards, Robert H. Richards, Thomas Casey and James Kirby were the pallbearers.
