Genevieve Victoria Hill
Genevieve Hill of Blackwell, Missouri was born on April 5, 1919 in Cadet, Missouri to the late, Mamie (Coleman) Boyer and Narcise Coleman. Genevieve departed this life on December 31, 2008 at the Bethesda Southgate Nursing Home, St. Louis, Missouri having reached the age of eighty-nine years, eight months and twenty-six days.
Genevieve was united in marriage to George Hill on October 11, 1939 in Valley Park, Missouri and were blessed with four children.
Genevieve is survived by one daughter, Virginia Hanger of Blackwell, Missouri; two sons, Charles Lee Hill and wife, Norlene of St. Louis, Missouri, Thomas Dale Hill and wife, Janice of St. Louis, Missouri; one sister, Margie Boyer of Festus, Missouri; one sister-in-law, Theresa Coleman of Cadet, Missouri; seven grandchildren, Kimberlie, Craig, Corey, Tracy, Ritchie, Barry and Tiffany; four great grandchildren, Tanner, Autumn, Samuel and Charlie; also surviving are nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. In addition to her parents, Genevieve was preceded in death by her husband, George Hill, one son, Ronnie Hill, three brothers, Bill Coleman, Lloyd Coleman, Roy Coleman and one grandson, Ryan Hill.
A family band was started years ago with her husband, George, on lead guitar, her son Charlie, on rhythm and son Tom, on drums. Many other family members were singers and played other instruments to form this musical group. Many great times were had by all in the basement of Genevieve’s home on highway 21 in Old Mines, Missouri. People would come from miles around to enjoy the music, laughter and camaraderie of this wonderful family. Genevieve was a parishioner of the St. Joachim Catholic Church and loved attending Mass. She enjoyed attending Ladies Day at the Rural Parish Workers, gardening especially, vegetables and flower gardening. Genevieve was a cook at Kingston School for thirteen years. She also loved to sing, quilt and care and nurture her whole family.
Visitation was held Friday, January 2, 2009 from 4:00 PM to 9:00 PM and Saturday, January 3, 2009 from 8:30 AM to 9:30 AM at the Moore Funeral Home, Potosi, Missouri.
A Funeral Mass was celebrated on Saturday, January 3, 2009 at the St. Joachim Catholic Church, Old Mines, Missouri with Father Ted Pieper officiating.
Final Prayers and Burial took place in the St. Joachim Catholic Cemetery, Old Mines, Missouri. Serving as pallbearers were: Craig Hill, Corey Hill, Tracy Hanger, Ritchey Hanger, Barry Hanger and David Courtaway.
Services were Entrusted to the Care and Direction of the Moore Funeral Homes, 105 Clark Street, Potosi, Missouri.
