George Lee Hill

April 21, 1913 — August 24, 2006

George Lee Hill of Potosi, Missouri formerly of Old Mines, Missouri was born Monday, April 21, 1913 in Cadet, Missouri a son of the late Julia (Bunch) Hill and George Washington Hill. George was fortified with the Sacraments of the Holy Mother Church on Thursday, August 24, 2006 at the Washington County Memorial Hospital having reached the age of Ninety-three years, Four months and Three days.

George was united in Holy Matrimony to Genevieve Victoria Coleman on October 11, 1939 in Valley Park, Missouri. They were blessed to have one daughter and three sons born to the union.

George is survived by his loving and devoted wife of Sixty-six years, Genevieve Hill of St. Louis, Missouri; one daughter, Virginia Ann Hanger of Blackwell, Missouri; two sons, Charles Hill and fiancé Norlene of St. Louis, Missouri, Tom Hill and wife Janice of St. Louis, Missouri; eight grandchildren, Kimberlie Jones, Craig Hill, Corey Hill, Tracy Hanger, Ritchie Hanger, Barry Hanger, Ryan Hill and Tiffany Hill; four great grandchildren, Tanner Lynn Hanger, Autumn Hill, Charlie Hill and Sam Jones and by many other dear relatives and special friends. In addition to his parents, George was also preceded in death by one son, Ronnie George Hill; three sisters, Rosie Coleman, Phoene Jefferies and Lena Lindsey; three brothers, Austin Hill, Melvin Hill and Jess Hill.

George was a long time and dedicated parishioner of the St. Joachim Catholic Church, Old Mines, Missouri. George loved the Lord and cherished the many blessings and working with his Catholic faith. He always looked forward and enjoyed the many visits with Father Ted Pieper.

George, also known as Isaac to his many friends and family loved spending time with each of them and especially his grandchildren. He was always ready for a large family gathering and loved playing lead guitar in the family band. He would relax listening to Chet Atkins. He would always make time to watch a St. Louis Cardinal Baseball game and the Channel Five News. He made it a point to keep up with Willard Scott on the Today Show.

George had a great love for his family and felt it as a Blessing to be able to care for his son Ronnie during his illness.

George was a remarkable man, not only for his longevity, but for the intensity and clarity of focus with which he lived his life. He will always be remembered for the love he shared.

Visitation was held Saturday, August 26, 2006 from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM and Sunday, August 27, 2006 from 10:00 AM to 12:00 Noon at the Moore Funeral Homes, Potosi, Missouri.

Funeral Services were held at Twelve Noon, Sunday, August 27, 2006 at the Moore Memorial Chapel with Father Ted Pieper officiating. Musical selections played for the Funeral Service were How Great thou Art and Precious Memories.

Burial and Final Prayers were at the St. Joachim Catholic Cemetery, Old Mines, Missouri. Serving as Pallbearers were Craig Hill, Corey Hill, Ryan Hill, Tracy Hanger, Ritchie Hanger, Barry Hanger and David Courtaway.

Arrangements were Entrusted to the Care and Direction of the Moore Funeral Homes, 105 Clark Street, Potosi, Missouri.
