Stella Ruth Hockinghomer
Stella “Ruthie” Hockinghomer of Arnold, Missouri was born on Friday, March 22, 1929 in Wentzville, Missouri a daughter of the late, Stella (Wetzler) Williams and Bess Williams. Stella departed this life on Monday, March 8, 2010 at her residence having reached the age of eighty-years, eleven months and fourteen days.
Stella was united in marriage to Carl James Hockinghomer on October 7, 1949 in Caledonia, Missouri.
“Ruthie” is survived by two daughters, Deborah Lands of Belgrade, Missouri, Sharon Brooks and husband, Dennis of Ste. Genevieve, Missouri; three sisters, Freda Otto and husband, James of St. Louis, Missouri, Betty Mormino of St. Louis, Missouri, Katherine Bogle of Vinita, Oklahoma; one brother, Bess Williams and wife, Mae of Arnold, Missouri; four grandchildren, Christopher Lands, Matthew Lands, LeaAnn Brooks and Krystle Brooks; two great-grandchildren, Whitley Lands and Coy Lands; sister-in-law, Eleanor Bell of St. Louis, Missouri; also surviving are many nieces, nephews, other relatives and many many friends. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by three sisters, Effie Civey, Liz Ross and Zeda Gordon, four brothers, John Williams, Abe Williams, Emmett Williams and Franklin Williams and one son-in-law, Ronnie Lands.
“Ruthie” loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and visiting with friends. She was a thirty-four year member and served as Past Matron in 1980 of Tyro Lodge #321, Order of Eastern Star. “Ruthie” was a longtime member of Bellevue Presbyterian Church. She and her husband enjoyed taking care of their home and traveling throughout the United States. Crocheting lovely gifts for others and working in her flower and vegetable gardens, were some of her favorite things to do. “Ruthie” was a very kind hearted woman who will be greatly missed by her many loved ones.
Visitation was held Friday, March 12, 2010 from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM with an Order of Eastern Star Service at 7:00 PM and visitation also Saturday, March 13, 2010 from 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM at the Moore Funeral Home, Potosi, Missouri.
A Funeral Service was held Saturday, March 13, 2010 at 1:00 PM at the Moore Memorial Chapel with Reverend Mike Jarvis and Reverend George Ray Civey officiating.
Honoring Ruthie by serving as Pallbearers were; Clifton Williams, John Civey, Lavern Evans, Kevin Strange, Leslie Gordon and Ronnie Williams.
Final Prayers and Burial took place in the Bellevue Presbyterian Cemetery, Caledonia, Missouri.
Services were Entrusted to the Care and Direction of the Moore Funeral Homes, 105 Clark Street, Potosi, Missouri.
