LAVERNE MARIE HOPKINS OF LONEDELL, MISSOURI WAS BORN FRIDAY, MAY 30, 1952 IN TIFF, MISSOURI A DAUGHTER OF CLIFFORD L. AND OPAL T. (PINSON) WICKER. LAVERNE DIED ON MONDAY, SEPTEMBER 4, 2000 AT HER HOME AT THE AGE OF FORTY-EIGHT YEARS, THREE MONTHS AND FIVE DAYS.
LAVERNE IS SURVIVED BY HER PARENTS, CLIFFORD AND OPAL WICKER OF TIFF, MISSOURI; ONE DAUGHTER EVA HOPKINS OF ST. CLAIR, MISSOURI; ONE SON DAVID HOPKINS OF ST. CLAIR, MISSOURI; TWO GRANDCHILDREN, MARISSA HOPKINS AND ADRIAN HOPKINS BOTH OF ST. CLAIR, MISSOURI; SIX SISTERS, JUDY VANDERGRIFF AND HUSBAND VIRGIL OF LONEDELL, MISSOURI, MARY PELTON AND HUSBAND DALE OF LONEDELL, MISSOURI, SUSAN ORRELL AND HUSBAND ARTHUR OF ST. CLAIR, MISSOURI, NONA SOBBA OF BLACKWELL, MISSOURI, LAURA SOBBA AND HUSBAND MITCH OF DESOTO, MISSOURI, PATRICIA FITZGERALD AND HUSBAND DANNY OF BLACKWELL, MISSOURI; SEVEN BROTHERS, LARRY WICKER AND WIFE MARY OF CADET, MISSOURI, MARK WICKER AND WIFE HOLLY OF CADET, MISSOURI, CLIFTON WICKER AND WIFE CARRIE OF TIFF, MISSOURI, STEVEN WICKER OF TIFF, MISSOURI, BRIANT WICKER AND WIFE KELLEY OF CADET, MISSOURI, JOHN WICKER OF SULLIVAN, MISSOURI AND ALLEN WICKER OF LONEDELL, MISSOURI; SISTER-IN-LAW SANDY WICKER OF CADET, MISSOURI. LAVERNE WAS PRECEDED IN DEATH BY ONE BROTHER, GEORGE WICKER.
LAVERNE WAS A LONGTIME MEMBER OF THE MOUNT ZION BAPTIST CHURCH IN ST. CLAIR, MISSOURI. SHE ENJOYED SEWING, CROCHETING AFGHANS, SWIMMING AND WALKING. LAVERNE ENJOYED VISITING WITH FAMILY AND FRIENDS AND ESPECIALLY CHERISHED THE TIME SHE SPENT WITH HER GRANDCHILDREN.
VISITATION FOR LAVERNE WAS HELD THURSDAY, SEPTEMBER 7, 2000 FROM 5:00 P.M. TO 9:00 P.M. AT THE MOORE FUNERAL HOME, POTOSI. FUNERAL SERVICES WERE CONDUCTED FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 8, 2000 AT 10:00 A.M. AT THE MOORE MEMORIAL CHAPEL WITH REVEREND BEN KINGSTON OFFICIATING. GRAVESIDE SERVICES AND BURIAL WAS AT THE BLACKWELL MASONIC CEMETERY AT 11:00 A.M. FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 8, 2000. SERVING AS PALLBEARERS WERE BRIANT LEE WICKER, JOHN EDWARD WICKER, AVERY WICKER, ALLEN WICKER, MITCH SOBBA AND JEREMY PRATTE.
