Mary Lillian Hopkins
Mary “Lil” Hopkins of Cadet, Missouri was born on Friday, December 24, 1920 in Old Mines, Missouri a daughter of the late, Mary M. (Thebeau) Robart and Francis J. Robart. Mary departed this life on Tuesday, December 22, 2009 at her residence having reached the age of eighty-eight years, eleven months and twenty-eight days.
“Lil” was united in marriage to Bernard Joseph “Goose” Hopkins on January 29, 1936 in Old Mines, Missouri and were blessed with six children.
“Lil” is survived by two daughters, Christine Barton and husband, Burgess of Old Mines, Missouri, Connie Minner and husband, Richard of St. Louis, Missouri; three sons, Bernard Hopkins and wife, Jan of Palm Harbor, Florida, Cecil Hopkins of O’Fallon, Illinois, Roger Hopkins and wife, Elise of Morristown, Indiana; five sisters, Betty Bartlett of Potosi, Missouri, Lucille Rohrer and husband, Dan of Morrison, Colorado, Ann Pratt and husband, Charles of Old Mines, Missouri, Charlene Roderique of Potosi, Missouri, Wilma Politte and husband, Paul “Fuzzy” of Hazelwood, Missouri; twenty-one grandchildren, thirty-seven great grandchildren and eleven great great grandchildren; son-in-law, John Stinson of St. Louis, Missouri; also surviving are nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. In addition to her parents. “Lil” was preceded in death by her husband, Bernard “Goose” Hopkins, one daughter, Janet Stinson, one granddaughter, Teena “Speedy” Hahn, daughter-in-law, Denise Hopkins and three brothers, Henry Robart, Everett Robart and Adrian “Curly” Robart.
“Lil” enjoyed eating out at different restaurants. She loved playing bingo, card games and any game of chance. “Lil” liked watching Jury T.V. shows and the Lawrence Welk Show. She loved flowering gardening, especially roses and collecting all types of Angels. Mostly “Lil” enjoyed attending St. Joachim Catholic Church and spending time with all her grandchildren.
Visitation was held Wednesday, December 23, 2009 from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM and Thursday, December 24, 2009 from 8:30 AM to 9:30 AM at the Moore Funeral Home, Potosi, Missouri.
A Funeral Mass was Celebrated Thursday, December 24, 2009 at 10:00 AM at the St. Joachim Catholic Church, Old Mines, Missouri with Father Ted Pieper officiating. Serving as pallbearers were: Kenny Barton, Joey Barton, Pete Hopkins, Mark Hopkins, Gregory Minner, Johnny Stinson and Mike Hopkins.
Final Prayers and Burial took place in the St. Joachim Catholic Cemetery, Old Mines, Missouri.
Services were Entrusted to the Care and Direction of the Moore Funeral Homes, 105 Clark Street, Potosi, Missouri.
