JAMES LEE HORTON
JAMES LEE HORTON OF POTOSI, MISSOURI, WAS BORN JULY 7, 1944, IN BELGRADE, MISSOURI, A SON OF THE LATE FRANK EDWARD AND CORA ALICE (RAMO) HORTON. JAMES DEPARTED THIS LIFE AT WASHINGTON COUNTY MEMORIAL HOSPITAL ON JUNE 1, 1999, HAVING REACHED THE AGE OF FIFTY-FOUR YEARS, TEN MONTHS AND TWENTY-FIVE DAYS.
JAMES WAS UNITED IN MARRIAGE TO MARY VOLNER ON DECEMBER 2, 1963, IN BELGRADE, MISSOURI, AND TO THIS UNION SIX CHILDREN WERE BORN.
JAMES IS SURVIVED BY HIS LOVING AND DEVOTED WIFE, MARY G. HORTON OF POTOSI, FIVE SONS, MARK HORTON OF BELGRADE, JIMMIE HORTON AND WIFE ANNETTE OF IRONTON, LONNIE HORTON AND WIFE JONNIE OF BELGRADE, GREG HORTON AND WIFE JOYCE OF BIXBY, MIKE HORTON OF BELGRADE, ONE DAUGHTER, KIMBERLY STATLER AND HUSBAND TERRY OF BELGRADE, EIGHT GRANDCHILDREN, FIVE BROTHERS, ED HORTON AND WIFE JUANITA OF BELGRADE, JOHN HORTON AND WIFE MARY OF IRONDALE, WILLIAM "BILL" HORTON AND WIFE VICKIE OF IRONDALE, DENNIS HORTON AND WIFE BETTY OF SPRINGFIELD, DANNY HORTON AND WIFE KATHERINE OF CALEDONIA, TWO SISTERS, MARGIE RUGH AND HUSBAND ROBERT OF BELGRADE, LINDA THOMAS AND HUSBAND ELWOOD OF BELGRADE, ONE STEP SISTER, FREDA SAGO AND HUSBAND LARRY OF DESLOGE, A SISTER-IN- LAW, MARY ANN HORTON OF POTOSI AND BY MANY OTHER RELATIVES AND FRIENDS. IN ADDITION TO HIS PARENTS HE WAS ALSO PRECEDED IN DEATH BY ONE SISTER, SHIRLEY DARLENE HORTON, ONE BROTHER, JESSE CALVIN HORTON AND HER STEP MOTHER, FLORENCE HORTON.
HOO HOO WAS A LONG TIME EMPLOYEE OF THE DOE RUN/ST. JOE LEAD MINING OPERATIONS, WHERE HE HELD MANY JOB POSITIONS.
HOO HOO ENJOYED WORKING IN THE GARDEN, FISHING AND BOWLING. HE TOOK GREAT PRIDE IN RAISING RABBITS AND CHICKENS.
HOO HOO WAS A KIND AND DEVOTED HUSBAND, A LOVING FATHER AND GRANDFATHER, A SPECIAL BROTHER AND FRIEND TO MANY WHO WILL SADLY MISS HIM AND LOVINGLY REMEMBER HIM.
VISITATION WAS HELD THURSDAY, JUNE 3, 1999, FROM 5:00 P.M. TO 9:00 P.M. AT MOORE FUNERAL HOME IN POTOSI.
FUNERAL SERVICES WERE CONDUCTED FRIDAY, JUNE 4, 1999, AT 2:00 P.M. AT THE MOORE CHAPEL WITH REVEREND JOSEPH LAWSON OFFICIATING. BURIAL WAS IN HORTON CEMETERY UNDER THE DIRECTION OF MOORE FUNERAL HOME, POTOSI.
SERVING AS PALLBEARERS WERE, ELVIE HEDRICK, RANDY PARKS, JOE EATON, PAUL EYE, CHARLIE HOFF AND JIM ASHER.
