DARWIN "CHIC" HUBBARD
DARWIN "CHIC" LINDELL HUBBARD OF POTOSI, MO, WAS BORN IN DESOTO, MO, ON AUGUST 30, 1922. HE WAS THE SON OF THE LATE OLLIE HUBBARD AND BERTHA (HENRY) WHALEY. DARWIN DEPARTED THIS LIFE AT THE WASHINGTON COUNTY MEMORIAL HOSPITAL IN POTOSI, MO, ON FEBRUARY 19, 2001 HAVING REACHED THE AGE OF SEVENTY-EIGHT YEARS, FIVE MONTHS AND TWENTY DAYS.
DARWIN WAS UNITED IN MARRIAGE TO DOLLY (HARTZELL) HUBBARD AND TO THIS UNION THEY HAD FOUR CHILDREN.
HE IS SURVIVED BY ONE DAUGHTER, JUDY TAYLOR AND HUSBAND JAMES OF SPANISH LAKE, MO; THREE SONS, RONNY HUBBARD AND WIFE SHARON OF BENTON, IL, JAMES HUBBARD AND WIFE SHARON OF LANSING, KS, AND RICHARD HUBBARD AND WIFE ELIZABETH OF FLORISSANT, MO. HE WAS ALSO SURVIVED BY TWO BROTHERS, LESTER HUBBARD OF MANCHESTER, MO, MELVIN HUBBARD AND WIFE CLARA HAZEL OF TX, EIGHT GRANDCHILDREN AND ELEVEN GREAT GRANDCHILDREN. IN ADDITION TO HIS PARENTS HE WAS ALSO PRECEDED IN DEATH BY ONE GRANDSON, DEWIGHT HUBBARD, AND TWO SISTERS, LOLA BERRY AND VENITA WILSON.
CHIC HAD A GREAT LOVE FOR HIS FAMILY AND ENJOYED SPENDING TIME WITH THEM. HIS COMMITMENT TO HIS COMMUNITY LED HIM TO BECOME INVOLVED IN CITY GOVERNMENT WHERE HE WAS ACTIVE FOR MANY YEARS.
CHIC ENJOYED WOOD WORKING ESPECIALLY WORKING WITH CLOCKS. CHIC ENJOYED TRAVELING AND CAMPING THROUGHOUT THE MIDWEST. CHIC LIVED ON LAKE EGYPT IN ILLINOIS FOR NINE YEARS, WHERE HE ENJOYED AND LOVED TO FISH.
VISITATION WAS HELD TUESDAY, FEBRUARY 20, 2001, FROM 5:00 P.M. TO 9:00 P.M. AT MOORE FUNERAL HOME IN POTOSI.
FUNERAL SERVICES WERE CONDUCTED WEDNESDAY, FEBRUARY 21, 2001, AT 11:00 A.M. WITH REVEREND JOHN EDWARDS OFFICIATING. BURIAL WAS IN REDBUD MEMORIAL GARDENS UNDER THE DIRECTION OF MOORE FUNERAL HOME, POTOSI.
SERVING AS PALLBEARERS WERE, MIKE HUBBARD, BUZZ MENEES, DWAYNE HUBBARD, GLENWOOD BERRY, RAY BOHANNON, TONY HUBBARD, JAMES TAYLOR AND WILLIAM BERRY.
