Reverend Loeta Estlmay James
Rev. Loeta May James of Centerville, Missouri was born on February 21, 1948 in Overland, Missouri and departed this life on February 16, 2013 at her residence having reached the age of sixty-four years, eleven months and twenty-six days.
May was united in marriage to William James, Sr. on May 11, 1963 in O’Fallon, Missouri and were blessed with nearly fifty years of marriage.
May is survived by her loving husband, Rev. William James, Sr. of Centerville, Missouri; one daughter, Rebecca M. James and friend, Arthur Wall of Richwoods, Missouri; four sons, William James, Jr. of Potosi, Missouri, Thomas James and wife, Roseann of Lonedell, Missouri, Richard James and wife, Tabitha of Reynolds, Missouri, Michael James of Centerville, Missouri; mother, Loetta Johnson of Potosi, Missouri; fifteen grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; four sisters, Patricia “Kay” Rennick of St. Louis, Missouri, Deatra “Dee” Bailey and husband, Bob of Potosi, Missouri, Vanessa McNail and husband, Richard of Centerville, Missouri, Roxanne Johnson of Potosi, Missouri; five brothers, Clifford Johnson and wife, Missy of Valley Park, Missouri, Glen Johnson of Potosi, Missouri, Charles Johnson of Potosi, Missouri, Josh Johnson of Potosi, Missouri, Billy Johnson of Alton, Missouri; aunt Estlee Kelley of Doe Run, Missouri, Goddaughter, Tammy Murawski of Mehlville, Missouri; also surviving are nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. Her father, Gerthel Johnson, two sisters, Danielle Johnson, Sharon Salsman, two brothers, Gerthel Johnson, Jr., Robert Johnson and one nephew, Davey Rennick, preceded May in death.
May enjoyed spending time with family, especially her grandchildren, traveling all over. She is very proud of all her grandchildren, especially her grandson, Christopher, for being in the Navy who is serving in Italy. May was an Ordained Minister of Bible Way Association of Doniphan, Missouri and preached her first message August 11, 1974 on the topic “It’s up to You”. She always enjoyed reading her Bible and singing at Church services. Her favorite song was “Sheltered in the Arms of God”. May was gifted to play several instruments and enjoyed the challenge of jigsaw puzzles. She will be greatly missed by her family and many friends.
Visitation was held Tuesday, February 19, 2013 from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM and Wednesday, February 20, 2013 from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM at the Moore Funeral Home, Potosi, Missouri.
A Funeral Service was held Wednesday, February 20, 2013 at 1:00 PM at the Moore Memorial Chapel, Potosi, Missouri with Rev. Leslie Buckner officiating. Musical selections were “What A Friend We Have In Jesus” by Tyra James and “Sheltered In The Arms Of God”, “Suppertime” and “Amazing Grace” by Margaret Buckner.
Final Prayers and Burial took place in the Sunset Hill Cemetery, Potosi. Serving as pallbearers were: Will James, Kyle James, Cody James, Ryan James, Tyler Richards, Mike James, Devin James and Sara James. Honorary Pallbearers were Breana James and Tyra James.
Services were Entrusted to the Care and Direction of the Moore Funeral Homes, 105 Clark Street, Potosi, Missouri.
