ETHEL MAE JENKINS
Ethel Mae Jenkins of Mineral Point, Missouri was born Sunday, May 12, 1912 at Hazel Creek, Missouri. Ethel was the daughter of the late Lucy Jane (Duncan) Goodson and James R. Goodson. Ethel departed this life at her daughter's home Thursday, October 16, 2003 at the age of Ninety-One Years, Five Months and Four Days.
Ethel was united in marriage to Quinten P. Jenkins, Sr. on August 17, 1929 in Potosi, Missouri. They were blessed to have three children born to the union.
Ethel leaves to survive her two daughters, Erleen Coleman and husband Jerry of Mineral Point, Missouri, Verda Jane Phillips and husband Carter of Mineral Point, Missouri; one son, Quinten "Junior" Jenkins and wife Dolly of Potosi, Missouri; one sister, Verda Pinter of St. Louis, Missouri; Five Grandchildren, Roxanne Williams and husband Terry, Lisa Clapp, Greg Coleman and wife Judy, Paula Williams and Cindy Hale and husband Steve; Eleven Great Grandchildren, Amy, Jamie, Sarah, Samantha Williams, Jennifer Clapp, Krista and Buddy Coleman, Brittnee and Cody Williams, Drew and Courtney Coleman; One Great Great Grandchild, Tyler Aubuchon and by many other Relatives and Friends. Ethel was blessed to have three Very Special Angels around her in person and thought, they were: Janet Minx, Norma Compton and Kathy Bourbon. She was lovingly called Ett by some of her Nieces and Nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, Ethel was preceded in death by three sisters, Myrtle E. Owens, Hazel Goodson and Margie Edith Strodt and two Brothers, David Goodson and Bill Goodson.
For the past six years, Ethel had made her home with her daughter Erleen in Mineral Point, where she was able to be cared for and spend time with her loving and devoted family. Ethel was a homemaker all her life, she enjoyed sewing, gardening and her flowers. She always enjoyed doing things for other people. She and Quinten opened their home to a gentlemen who had no where to live, Frank Wilkerson, he lived with them until his death. She later cared for her Mother and a sister, Marge Edith who had a stroke.
Ethel had a great love for her family and many friends. She especially enjoyed cooking big Sunday dinners for all to enjoy. Anytime she could gather her loved ones together, they would sing favorite songs and eat popcorn. Ethel was a remarkable person not only for her longevity, but for the intensity and clarity of focus with which she lived her life. She will certainly be lovingly remembered by all who were privileged to know her.
Visitation for Ethel was held Sunday, October 19, 2003 from 5:00 P.M. to 9:00 P.M. and Monday, October 20, 2003 from 10:00 A.M. to 2:00 P.M. at the Moore Funeral Homes, Potosi, Missouri.
Funeral Services were held Monday, October 20, 2003 at 2 O'Clock in the afternoon at the Moore Memorial Chapel with Dr. Michael A. Coleman officiating. Musical selections played at the service were "Beyond the Sunset", "Just a closer Walk with Thee", "Precious Memories" and "Go Rest High on That Mountain".
Burial was at the Scott Cemetery, Belgrade, Missouri Monday, October 20, 2003 at 3:15 P.M. with Dr. Michael A. Coleman. Serving as Pallbearers were Greg Coleman, Tom Phillips, Terry Williams, Robert Michalek, Steve Hale, Amy Williams and Jamie Williams.
Services were entrusted to the Care and Direction of the Moore Funeral Homes, Potosi, Missouri.
