Alice Marie Jennings of Bonne Terre, Missouri was born on Monday, May 13, 1929 in Elvins, Missouri a daughter of the late, Lester Elsie (LaComb) Lewis and Homer Leo Lewis. Alice departed this life on Sunday, July 17, 2011 at her residence having reached the age of eighty-two years, two months and four days.
Alice was united in marriage to Benjamin G. Jennings on December 21, 1958.
Alice is survived by her husband, Benjamin Jennings of Bonne Terre, Missouri; one daughter, Karen Groves and husband, Robert of Bonne Terre, Missouri; four sons, Ron Yount and wife, Mindy of Porter, Texas, Charles Jennings and wife, Jeanne of Norfolk, Virginia, David Jennings and wife, Judi of Farmington, Missouri, Tim Jennings of Wrightstown, Wisconsin; two sisters, Doris Duncan and husband, Paul of Jacksonville, Florida, Betty Black of Greenwood, Arkansas; one brother, James Lewis and wife, Mary Lou of Rolla, Missouri; fifteen grandchildren: Tyson, Tiffany, Randi, Kasey, Kristopher, Joshua, Jedediah, David, Amanda, Stephen, Megan, Kelsey, Anthony, Michael and Jera; ten great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Juanita Lewis of Wright City, Missouri; also surviving are nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. In addition to her parents, Alice was preceded in death by one son, Russell “Rick” Yount and one brother, Melvin Lewis.
Alice loved being with her family. She was a very sweet tempered lady who always found the best in a person, never speaking unkind of anyone. Alice was a member of the Ladies Auxilary of VFW Post # 6947 Bismarck, Missouri. In her spare time she enjoyed doing circle word puzzles and sewing, creating beautiful clothing items. Alice will be greatly missed by her family and many friends.
Visitation was held Friday, July 22, 2011 from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM at the Moore Funeral Home, Irondale, Missouri.
A Funeral Service was held Friday, July 22, 2011 at 1:00 PM at the Moore Memorial Chapel, Irondale, Missouri with Reverend Jim Frago officiating and “Amazing Grace” by granddaughter, Megan Bodin.
Services were Entrusted to the Care and Direction of the Moore Funeral Homes, 104 Oak Street, Irondale, Missouri.
