Robert “Bob” Luke Johnston
Robert “Bob” Johnston of Cadet, Missouri was born on September 26, 1930 in Bliss, Missouri a son of the late, Ava Rose (Ackerson) Johnston and Robert Lewis Johnston. “Bob” departed this life on October 5, 2007 at his residence having reached the age of seventy-seven years and nine days.
Robert was united in marriage to Opal Barton on December 20, 1951 at the St. Joachim Catholic Church, Old Mines, Missouri by Father Bruemmer.
“Bob” is survived by his loving wife, Opal Johnston of Cadet, Missouri; two daughters, Diana Marie Brand and husband, Denny of Potosi, Missouri, Nancy Ruth Johnston and friend, Mike of Barnhart, Missouri; four sons, Robert Johnston and wife, Vicki of Old Mines, Missouri, Roger Johnston and wife, Becky of Blackwell, Missouri, Donald James Johnston and wife, Stephanie of Potosi, Missouri, Richard Coleman and wife, Kim of Potosi, Missouri; two sisters, Rose Ann Richards of Blackwell, Missouri, Mary Catherine Portell and husband, Carl of Cadet, Missouri; one brother, James Johnston and wife, Carol of Cadet, Missouri; eight grandchildren, Lee and wife, Amy, Doug and wife, Beth, Abby, Emily, Katie and husband, Jamie, Jason, Cassie and husband, Ryan, Tara and husband, Jason; one step grandchild, Beau and wife, Megan; ten great grandchildren, Dougie, Hailee, Layne, Gavyn, Andrew, Blake, Lukas, Macklin, Riley, Hannah; one step great grandchild, Jackson; one brother-in-law, Burgess Barton and wife, Christine of Old Mines, Missouri. In addition to “Bob’s” parents he was preceded in death by one daughter, Mary Ann Johnston and one sister, Florence Johnston.
“Bob” attended the St. Joachim Catholic Church, Old Mines, Missouri. He enjoyed working on his farm and going hunting especially coon hunting. Robert loved spending time with his grandchildren. Served as an American Coon Hunters Association Board of Directors for 32 years. A member of the State Coon Hunters of Missouri Association for 45 years, served as an officer for most of the years. Bob also was very active with K-14 School, serving as a board member for many years and as the school board president. He also drove a school bus for 37 years for the Mineral Area Bus Lines. “Bob” will be very deeply missed by his many family and friends.
Visitation was held Sunday, October 7, 2007 from 3:00 PM to 9:00 PM and Monday, October 8, 2007 from 10:00 AM to 12:45 PM at the Moore Funeral Home, Potosi, Missouri.
A Funeral Mass was celebrated on Monday, October 8, 2007 at 1:00 PM at the St. Joachim Catholic Church, Old Mines, Missouri with Father Ted Piper officiating. Serving as pallbearers were: James Johnston, Burgess Barton, Richard Coleman, Lee Brand, Doug Brand, Tony Burg and honorary pallbearer, Stan Bonacker.
Final Prayers and Burial took place in the St. Joachim Cemetery, Old Mines, Missouri.
Services were Entrusted to the Care and Direction of the Moore Funeral Homes, 105 Clark Street, Potosi, Missouri.
