Mary Evelyn Jones
Mary Jones of Potosi, Missouri was born on July 10, 1936 in Poplar Bluff, Missouri a daughter of the late, Ada Gladys (Brown) Walker and Doyle Walker. Mary departed this life on August 15, 2008 at the Barnes Jewish Medical Center, St. Louis, Missouri having reached the age of seventy-two years, one month and five days.
Mary is survived by three daughters, Amanda Champion of Troy, Missouri, Louise Birchfield of Ethel, Mississippi and Mary Laspas and husband, Bill of Wright City, Missouri; one son, Johnny Cheeseborough and wife, Barb of Ontario, Canada; two brothers, Jimmie Walker and wife, Donna of DeSoto, Missouri and Donald Walker and wife, Martha of Kentucky; nine grandchildren and four great grandchildren. In addition to her parents, Mary was preceded in death by her husband, Albert Henry Jones on May 5, 1991, two brothers, Glen Walker, Louie Walker and one stepsister, Marilee Keller.
Mary loved collecting dolls and stuffed animals, but all types of bunny rabbits brought her the most joy. She enjoyed making ceramics and painting and sewing beautiful embroidered keepsakes. Mary also enjoyed watching older movies, including westerns and playing dominos.
Visitation was held Tuesday, August 19, 2008 from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM and Wednesday, August 20, 2008 from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the Moore Funeral Home, Potosi, Missouri.
A Funeral Service was held Wednesday, August 20, 2008 at 11:00 AM at the Moore Memorial Chapel, Potosi, Missouri with Reverend Jan Reimers officiating. Honoring Mary by serving as pallbearers were: Jimmie Walker, Robin Warren, John Miller, Harold Walker and Johnny Miller.
Final Prayers and Burial took place in the Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery, St. Louis, Missouri where Mary was laid to rest next to her loving husband, Albert.
Services were Entrusted to the Care and Direction of the Moore Funeral Homes, 105 Clark Street, Potosi, Missouri.
