Evelyn (Helms) LaChance of Potosi, formerly of Caledonia, Missouri, was born January 28, 1940, in DeSoto, Missouri, a daughter of the late Walter and Edna (Compton) Helms. Evelyn departed this life Monday, April 8, 2019, having reached the age of 79 Years, 2 Months and 11 Days.
Evelyn was united in marriage to Roy LaChance on August 17, 1957, in Hernando, MS.
Evelyn is survived by two daughters, Kim Smith and husband Scott of Potosi, MO, Pam Buckley and husband Rodney of Caledonia, MO, one son, Phil LaChance and wife Rhonda of Portland, OR, two sisters, Lynia Prewett-Vest and husband Dennis of St. Louis, MO, Marilyn Prewett of St. Louis, MO, one sister-in-law, Marilyn Summers and husband Luther of Mineral Point, MO, two brothers, Larry Helms and wife Barb of St. Louis, MO, Michael Helms of St. Louis, MO, one brother-in-law, Donald LaChance and wife Alma of Hillsboro, MO, five grandchildren, Melissa Suec-LaChance, Jessica LaChance, Madison Smith, Dakota Buckley and Mackenzie Smith, two great grandchildren, Sebastian and Louis, brother by heart, Terry Goodson of St. Louis, special friends, Erleen and Jerry Coleman of Mineral Point, MO, and Nancy Koch of Houston, MO. Evelyn was raised by Pauline and Bill Goodson who preceded her in death. Evelyn was also preceded in death by her husband, Roy LaChance, her son, Rick LaChance and two granddaughters, Pamela and Samantha, one sister, Melba Luecker, one sister-in-law, Anna DeClue and husband Bob, one brother, Jimmy Helms, sister by heart, Wanda Taylor and a brother by heart, Billy Dean Goodson.
Evelyn was a longtime member of the Stitch in Time Club, Caledonia Community Betterment Association and the Best of Missouri Hands Artisan Association. She was a talented seamstress, painter, basket weaver and quilter.
She greatly cherished her time traveling with her husband Roy. Evelyn was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother, who will forever be loved and remembered.
