Roy Elmer LaChance of Caledonia, Missouri was born on August 17, 1939 in Mineral Point, Missouri a son of the late, Ethel (Masson) LaChance and Elmer LaChance. Roy departed this life on Tuesday, August 27, 2013 having reached the age of seventy-four years and ten days.
Roy was united in marriage to Evelyn Helms on August 17, 1957 in Mississippi and this union was blessed with four children.
Roy is survived by his loving wife of fifty-six years, Evelyn LaChance of Caledonia, Missouri; two daughters, Kim Smith and Scott of Potosi, Missouri; Pam Buckley and Rodney of Caledonia, Missouri; two sons, Roy Phillip LaChance and Rhonda of Lake St. Louis, Missouri; Rick LaChance and Virginia of Caledonia, Missouri; two sisters, Ann DeClue of Potosi, Missouri; Marilyn Summers and Luther of Mineral Point, Missouri; one brother, Donald LaChance and Alma of Hillsboro, Missouri; five grandchildren, Melissa LaChance, Jessica LaChance, Madison Smith, Dakota Buckley, Mackenzie Smith; also surviving are other relatives and many friends. In addition to his parents, Roy was preceded in death by twin granddaughters, Pamela and Samantha Smith.
Roy enjoyed traveling all over the United States with his wife, Evelyn and family in their motor home. He was a very spirited UAW Member of the Local 25 and Local 2250. Roy loved old cars and trucks. He and Evelyn were previous owners of the Village Country Store where they bought and sold antiques. Roy was owner and operator of LaChance Trucking Company. He will be greatly missed by all.
Visitation was held Wednesday, August 28, 2013 from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM and Thursday, August 29, 2013 from 8:30 AM to 10:00 AM at the Moore Funeral Home, Potosi, Missouri.
The Funeral Service was held Thursday, August 29, 2013 at 10:00 AM at the Moore Memorial Chapel, Potosi, Missouri with Elder Leonard Compton officiating.
Final Prayers and Burial took place in the Caledonia Methodist Cemetery, Caledonia, Missouri. Serving as pallbearers were: Dakota Buckley, Bunny Portell, Phillip Midgett, Shannon McClain, Larry Ives, Mike Nickelson and honorary pallbearers, Scott Smith, Rodney Buckley, Teto Sparks, Donald LaChance and Tom Worthen.
In honor and memory of Roy, the family requests Memorial Contributions be to the American Heart Association.
