Dorothy V. Lawson
Dorothy Lawson of Bonne Terre, Missouri was born on Thursday, February 16, 1922 in New Madrid, Missouri a daughter of the late, Sadie and Lemuel DeClue. Dorothy departed this life on Thursday, December 3, 2009 at the Washington County Memorial Hospital, Potosi, Missouri having reached the age of eighty-seven years, nine months and seventeen days.
Dorothy was united in marriage to Manuel Alvertus Lawson on June 19, 1937 in Potosi, Missouri and were blessed with one son, the late Woodrow Lawson.
Dorothy is survived by five grandchildren, Woody Lawson, Jr. and wife, Tammy of Potosi, Missouri, Randy Lawson of Bonne Terre, Missouri, Kelly Lawson of Michigan, Jeff Lawson and wife, Robin of Michigan, Leigh Ann Skiles and husband, Chuck of Hopewell, Missouri; eight great grandchildren, two great great grandchildren and her many caregivers throughout the years. Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents, Sadie and Lemuel DeClue, husband, Manuel Lawson, son, Woodrow Lawson, two sisters, Hazel Bisher, Ellie Axley, two brothers, Woodrow DeClue and Elmer DeClue.
Dorothy enjoyed going fishing, gardening and sewing. She loved spending time with her family and friends and playing cards together. Dorothy also enjoyed watching her favorite television shows and sewing. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
Visitation was held Monday, December 7, 2009 from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM at the Moore Funeral Home, Potosi, Missouri.
A Funeral Service was held Monday, December 7, 2009 at 1:00 PM at the Moore Memorial Chapel, Potosi, Missouri with Brother Roger Taber officiating. Serving as pallbearers were: Stanley Conway, Zachary Lawson, Adam Rugh, Michael DeClue, Randy Lawson and Jeff Lawson.
Final Prayers and Burial took place in the New Masonic Cemetery, Potosi, Missouri.
Services were Entrusted to the Care and Direction of the Moore Funeral Homes, Potosi, Missouri.
