Leroy "Lee" Rolens

March 21, 1938 — August 21, 2024

   Leroy "Lee" Rolens, a cherished member of the Potosi community, was born on March 21, 1938, in Old Mines, Missouri. He passed away on August 21, 2024, leaving behind a legacy of kindness, hard work, and musical talent that touched the lives of those who knew him.

   Lee dedicated many years of his life to his career as a mechanic, where his skills and dedication shone brightly. However, it was his passion for music that truly resonated in the hearts of many. Lee often played music for anyone who would listen, finding joy in sharing his talent and love for melodies.

   He was known for his fun-loving spirit and his ability to care deeply for those around him. As a proud member of the Potosi Elks Lodge #2218 and Washington County Knights of Columbus, he enjoyed traveling, playing music, singing, and most importantly, spending quality time with his family and friends. Those who remember him will fondly hold dear the memories of playing music by his side.

   Lee is survived by his daughters: Marcia Paton and her husband Jonathan of Cuba, MO; Madonna Daniels and her husband Mikael of Roland, OK; and Dawn Bequette and her husband Kevin of Farmington. He is also survived by his sisters: Mary Benoist of Leadwood, MO, and Laura Leffert and her husband Gary of De Soto, MO; his brother Art Rolens and his wife Wilma of Imperial, MO; and many beloved friends and extended family.

   The joy and laughter Lee brought into the lives of his grandchildren—Jennifer (Jason) Basham, Suzanne (Craig) Bouse, Erika (Tucker) Martens, Katie (Jonathan) Lyle, Jeremy Paton, Austin (Esmeralda) Bequette, Jaclyn Bequette, and Jessica Bequette—will forever be etched in their hearts, along with the gleeful expressions of his great-grandchildren: Bailee, Cadynce, Kannon, Ella, Blaine, Marian, Preston, and Emmett.

   He will also be remembered by his special friend, Nina Lollar-Smith of Mineral Point, as well as his sisters-in-law, Glenda (Perry) Farrow of Potosi, MO, Sharon Forrester of St. Charles, MO, Jean (Ross) Roberson of Potosi, MO, and his brother-in-law, Kenneth Dempsey, amongst many other relatives and dear friends.

   Lee was preceded in death by his loving wife, Kitty Rolens, his brother, Floyd Rolens, sisters Sally Warren, Cathy Hummel, infant son, Mark Rolens and Georgia Dempsey, Additionally, he was predeceased by in-laws, Phyllis Vance, Debbie and Richard Belfield, Robert Kathkart and nephew, Danny Rolens

   Lee leaves a legacy of love, laughter, and music that will continue to inspire and comfort all who were fortunate enough to know him. His spirit will live on in the cherished memories of his family and friends.

   In lieu of flowers, Memorial Donations may be made to St. Jude Children's Hospital at 501 St. Jude PL Memphis, TN 38105.
