MARY LOU LIVENGOOD OF POTOSI, MISSOURI WAS BORN SATURDAY, OCTOBER 13, 1928 IN SAINT LOUIS, MISSOURI A DAUGHTER OF THE LATE VERONICA MARTHA (GIBBONS) PETERS AND THE LATE ANTONY A. PETERS. MARY LOU DEPARTED THIS LIFE AT THE MISSOURI BAPTIST MEDICAL CENTER IN SAINT LOUIS, MISSOURI SATURDAY JUNE 22, 2002 AT THE AGE OF SEVENTY- THREE YEARS, EIGHT MONTHS AND TEN DAYS.
MARY LOU IS SURVIVED BY THREE LOVING AND DEVOTED DAUGHTERS, BETTY LIVENGOOD OF HIGH RIDGE, MISSOURI, LAURY BLAIR AND HUSBAND DENNIS OF POTOSI, MISSOURI, CATHY WILCOX AND HUSBAND OF GREG OF HARRISBURG, MISSOURI; TWO BROTHERS, DONALD PETERS AND WIFE NANCY OF ST. CHARLES, MISSOURI, JERRY PETERS AND WIFE MADLINE OF AFTON, MISSOURI; FOUR GRANDCHILDREN, ANDRIA AND KATIE BLAIR OF POTOSI, MISSOURI, JUSTIN AND JESSY WILCOX OF HARRISBURG, MISSOURI AND BY MANY OTHER RELATIVES AND FRIENDS. IN ADDITION TO HER PARENTS SHE WAS ALSO PRECEDED IN DEATH BY ONE DAUGHTER, PAT LIVENGOOD; ONE SON, DANIEL EDWARD LIVENGOOD; ONE BROTHER, ROBERT PETERS AND ONE SISTER.
MARY LOU WAS A GRADUATE OF THE MINERAL AREA COLLEGE AND THE LEADBELT L.P.N. SCHOOL IN 1966. MARY LOU WAS A 20 YEAR EMPLOYEE OF THE WASHINGTON COUNTY MEMORIAL HOSPITAL WHERE SHE CARED FOR THE PEOPLE OF THE COMMUNITY AS A NURSE. SHE WAS A DEDICATED AND TRUSTED MEMBER OF THE ST. JAMES CATHOLIC CHURCH, THE LADIES SODALITY AND MANY OTHER ORGANIZATIONS OF THE AREA, INCLUDING THE CREATION OF THE OMBUDSMAN PROGRAM, ASSISTING MANY NURSING HOME RESIDENTS.
MARY LOU LOVED TO SPEND TIME WITH HER GRANDCHILDREN AND CHILDREN. SHE ALWAYS LOOKED FORWARD TO THEIR VISIT OR THE NEXT FAMILY GATHERING. SHE ENJOYED GOING TO THE THEATER TO SEE POPS. MARY LOU WAS ALWAYS ON THE GO AND LOVED TO TAKE TIME AND GO TO GARAGE SALES. MARY LOU ALWAYS HAD A SMILE OR A KIND WAVE TO ANYONE SHE MET. DURING THE PAST SEVERAL YEARS, SHE ALWAYS FOUND THE POWER IN HER HEART AND SOUL TO GO ON THE NEXT DAY. SHE HAS LEFT THE LEGACY OF HER WORLD WITH EACH AND EVERY PERSON THAT HAS COME TO BE KNOWN AS HER FRIEND.
VISITATION FOR MARY LOU WAS HELD MONDAY, JUNE 24, 2002 FROM 3:00 P.M. TO 9:00 P.M. AND TUESDAY, JUNE 25, 2002 FROM 8:30 A.M. TO 10:00 A.M. AT THE MOORE FUNERAL HOME, POTOSI, MISSOURI.
FUNERAL MASS WAS CELEBRATED TUESDAY, JUNE 25, 2002 AT 10:00 A.M. AT THE SAINT JAMES CATHOLIC CHURCH, POTOSI, MISSOURI WITH FATHER TED BRUNNERT CELEBRATING. MUSICAL SELECTIONS WERE, HERE I AM LORD, ON EAGLES WINGS AND AVA MARIA PERFORMED BY ANITA GOVERO AND MARY CAMPBELL. MEMORIAL DONATIONS ARE REQUESTED TO THE SHRINERS HOSPITAL FOR CHILDREN, 2001 SOUTH LINDBERG, ST. LOUIS, MO 63131.
SERVING AS PALLBEARERS WERE JUSTIN WILCOX, JOE NETTLES, JERRY PETERS, DON PETERS, DENNIS BLAIR AND GREG WILCOX.
