Opal (Wideman) Long of Potosi, Missouri, was born March 12, 1935, in Ware, Missouri, a daughter of the late Gilbert and Golda Mae (Harness) Wideman. Opal departed this life Thursday, July 4, 2019 having reached the age of 84 Years, 3 Months and 22 Days.
Opal was united in marriage to the late Morris Long on June 22, 1952 in Pocahontas, Arkansas. They were blessed with sixty-seven years of marriage and with seven children.
Opal is survived by two daughters, Peggy Long of Bonne Terre and Paula Williams and husband Roger of Mineral Point; four sons, William “Bill” Morris Long and wife Phyllis of Potosi, Jim Long of Weatherford, Texas, Joe Long and wife Paulette of Potosi and Brad Long of Potosi; thirteen grandchildren, Shawnee, Chad, Cody, Kellie, Heather, Peyton, Rodney, Ryan, Robbie, A.J., Matt, Kyle, Amy, twenty-seven great grandchildren and by many other dear relatives and special friends. In addition to her parents and husband, Opal was also preceded in death by a daughter, Penny Short; one sister, Norma Lee Sebastian and one brother, James Franklin “Frankie” Wideman.
Opal had a great love for her husband and family. Mr. Morris was the love of her life and his life was her life. Where ever he went or done she was at his side. She loved the farm and her cows and milk cows. She enjoyed working the garden and canning all she could from there. Momma Opal as known by most, had a heart bigger than the moon. She was always there to give comfort and love to anyone.
A kind and loving wife, mother, grandmother and a very dear and special friend to all. She will be forever loved and remembered
