Lucy Joan Scott

     Lucy Joan Scott of Farmington, Missouri, formerly of Potosi, was born on July 17, 1937, a daughter of the late Linnie “LH” Jarvis and Virginia (Summers) Jarvis. Lucy Joan departed this life on Sunday December 4, 2022. She is survived by her only brother, Linnie Lee Jarvis, of Sarasota, Florida.  

    On July 19, 1957, Lucy Joan was wed to A.R. (Skip) Wishon of Irondale, Missouri. From that union two sons were born, Kirk Wishon, of Farmington and Blake Wishon, of Steelville. Both survive and mourn their mother’s passing.

    On November 18, 1974, Lucy Joan was united in marriage to the late Lawrence “Larry” Scott and they shared a wonderful 40 years together. Larry preceded Lucy Joan in death on January 5, 2015. Lucy Joan was recently joined in heaven by her beloved stepson Kevin Paul Scott. She is also survived by stepdaughters Lisa Gillam, Julia Scott and Michelle Helms.

    Lucy Joan is survived by many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and too many friends to count. Her many friends in Farmington were such a blessing and will continue to be a blessing to Kirk in his time of mourning.

    Lucy Joan was a devoted teacher; having received degrees from William Woods College, Washington University and Harris-Stowe University. She taught every level of Missouri public education from first grade through high school for over 30 years. She continued her dedication to higher learning by teaching in the Missouri State Correctional System for another 10 years. Her students were her pride and joy.

    Lucy Joan kept those she loved in her thoughts and prayers daily. She has been a member of the Potosi Presbyterian Church, St. Joachim Parish and St. Joseph Parish. She always saw the best in all of us, and pushed us all to do the same, every day. Her legacy is teaching, understanding, forgiveness, unconditional love. Her family, her students and her friends will miss her spirit always. They will cherish her beauty, style and inspiration; it will ever be matched again.
