Rayburn Richard “Pork Chop” Mahurin
Rayburn “Pork Chop” Mahurin of Cadet, Missouri was born on Monday, August 25, 1941 in Gumbo-Owl Creek, Missouri a son of the late, Lena Louise (Young) Mahurin and Roman Cletus Mahurin. Rayburn departed this life on Monday, January 25, 2010 at his residence having reached the age of sixty-eight years and five months.
Rayburn is survived by two daughters, Gwendolynn Juliette and husband, Thomas of Cadet, Missouri, Susan Rae Brown and husband, Ross of Eastaboga, Alabama; one son, John Mark Dalton and wife, Ginger of Rolla, Missouri; one sister, Leanna French and husband, Daryl of Ironton, Missouri; two brothers, Genedale Mahurin and wife, Alpha of Hillsboro, Missouri, Pete Mahurin of Ironton, Missouri; eight grandchildren, Thomas “T.J.” Juliette Jr., Breanna Juliette, Tucker Ray Juliette, “Lil” Ross Brown, Dalton Ray Brown, Caroline Brown, Alexander John Ray Dalton and Anastasia Dalton; also surviving are other relatives and many friends including his fox hunting buddies. In addition to his parents, Rayburn was preceded in death by three brothers, Sterling Roman Mahurin, James Alvin Mahurin and Lenuel “Big L” Mahurin.
“Pork Chop” enjoyed fox hunting and was a lifetime member of the National Fox Hunter’s Association. He had held many positions while working for the Pea Ridge Iron Ore from laborer to maintenance superintendent of the pellet plant. One of “Pork Chop’s” favorite pastimes was taking road trips finding new favorite places to eat. He also enjoyed watching western movies with John Wayne being his favorite, going hunting and fishing. “Pork Chop” loved his family and spending time with his grandchildren every moment he could.
Visitation was held Thursday, January 28, 2010 from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM at the Moore Funeral Home, Potosi, Missouri.
A Funeral Service was held Thursday, January 28, 2010 at 1:00 PM at the Moore Funeral Home, Potosi, Missouri with Pastor Rhonda Davis officiating. Serving as pallbearers were: Thomas “T.J.” Juliette Jr., Kevin Bouse, Dalton Ray Brown, Mike Guenther, Howard “Peanut” Kincaid and Jeff Juliette.
Final Prayers and Burial took place in the Sunset Hill Cemetery, Potosi, Missouri.
Services were Entrusted to the Care and Direction of the Moore Funeral Homes, 105 Clark Street, Potosi, Missouri.
