Ima Gean Maness

Ima Gean Polovich Maness of Potosi, Missouri was born on Saturday, August 13, 1921 in Banner, Missouri a daughter of the late, Mary Elizabeth (Hargis) Fryman and Jerry Fryman. Ima Gean departed this life on Thursday, May 12, 2011 at the Washington County Memorial Hospital, Potosi, Missouri having reached the age of eighty-nine years, eight months and twenty-nine days.

Ima Gean was united in marriage to Joseph Frank Polovich on May 31, 1941 in Ironton, Missouri who passed away December 3, 1984 and then married Clifford Lewis Maness on November 29, 1985 in Potosi, Missouri who passed away October 18, 2006.

Ima Gean is survived by one daughter Mary “Judy” East of Potosi, Missouri; one sister, Retha Dobbs and husband, Marvin of Potosi, Missouri; three grandchildren, Joseph Dewayne East and wife, Ashley of Greenwood, Indiana, Jacqueline Marie East of Paducah, Kentucky, Aaron “Jerry” East and wife, Heather of Columbia, Missouri; twelve great-grandchildren; also surviving are a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. In addition to her parents, Ima Gean was preceded in death by two husbands, Joseph Frank Polovich and Clifford Lewis Maness, eight sisters, three brothers and son-in-law, Herschel Clyde “Jack” East, Jr.

Ima Gean enjoyed working in her flower and vegetable gardens. She also enjoyed crocheting rugs, sewing and traveling. Ima Gean loved spending time with her family and friends, who will miss her deeply.

Visitation was held Saturday, May 21, 2011 from 4:00 PM to 9:00 PM and Sunday, May 22, 2011 from 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM at the Moore Funeral Home, Potosi, Missouri.

A Funeral Service was held Sunday, May 22, 2011 at 1:00 PM at the Moore Memorial Chapel, Potosi, Missouri with Reverend Mike Jarvis officiating.

Final Prayers and Burial took place in the New Masonic Cemetery, Potosi, Missouri.

Serving as pallbearers were: Joe East, Jerry East, Jerry McGinness, Jerry Fryman, Bill Long and Jamie McGinness.

Memorials are to be directed to the Mineral Area Scholarship Fund at PO Box 1000, Park Hills, Missouri 63601 in Memory of Ima Gean.

Services were Entrusted to the Care and Direction of the Moore Funeral Homes, 105 Clark Street, Potosi, Missouri.
