Mary Magdalene Johnson
Mary Magdalene (Cain) Johnson of Mineral Point, Missouri born in Halliflax, Missouri on June 22, 1921. She is the daughter of the late Geneva and Lytle Lafe Cain. Mary departed this life Saturday, April 9, 2005 at Des Peres Hospital in St. Louis, Missouri, having reached the age of eighty-three years nine months and seventeen days.
Mary was united in marriage to Freddy “Ted” Skiles on August 5, 1940 and to this union Irene Skiles was born. After Ted’s death Mary was united in marriage to James William Johnson on May 20, 1943 and to this union Ava Johnson was born.
She is survived by her two daughters; Irene Woods and husband James “Milton” of Mineral Point, Missouri, Ava Bievenue and husband George of Baldwin, Illinois, four grandchildren, ten great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. She was preceded in death by two husbands; Frederick William “Ted” Skiles and James William Johnson, five brothers; Roy Cain, Andrew Cain, Frank Cain, Melvin Jack Cain, Eugene Joe Cain, four sisters; Martha Johnson, Ava Lechner, Ollie Cain,and Gladys Deterding, two grandchildren; Sheila Worley, and Michelle Woods.
Mary will long be remembered for her flower gardening, and spoiling Irene and Milton’s dogs. She loved watching and feeding the birds, and reading her Bible. Mary enjoyed watching television especially when her soap operas were on. She was a faithful supporter and lifetime member of the Michelle Woods Foundation. Most of all she loved being a good mother, grandmother, and mother-in-law.
Visitation was held 5:00 P.M. to 9:00 P.M. on Tuesday, April 12, 2005 and 9:00 A.M. to 11:00 A.M. Wednesday, April 13, 2005 at the Moore Funeral Home in Potosi, Missouri.
The Funeral Service was conducted at 11:00 A.M. on Wednesday, April 13, 2005 with Pastor Lindell Johnson officiating. Serving as Pallbearers were Rusty Bievenue, Dwayne Bievenue, Chris Robert, Nathan Wilson, Bryan Jausel and Clarence Woods, Jr.
Burial took place at the Hopewell Cemetery, Hopewell, Missouri on Wednesday, April 13, 2005 at 12:00 P.M.
Services were Entrusted to the Care and Direction of the Moore Funeral Home, 105 Clark Street, Potosi, Missouri.
