Alberta (Courtois) Maxwell
Alberta Margaret Maxwell was born Thursday, May 4, 1922 in Cadet, Missouri a daughter of the late Mary Cornelia (Dean) Courtois and Joseph Anthony Courtois. Alberta departed this life Sunday, November 9, 2003 at the Washington County Memorial Hospital at the age of Eighty- one Years, Six Months and Five Days.
Alberta was united in marriage to Leonard Kent Maxwell who preceded her in death February 4, 1998.
Alberta is survived by Two Daughters, Karen Gardner and husband Carl of Liberty, Missouri, Sharon Arndt of Potosi, Missouri; Three Sons, Joe "Butch" Maxwell and wife Thelma of Cadet, Missouri, Kenny Maxwell and wife Terry of Cadet, Missouri, Sam Maxwell and wife Marsha of Roseberg, Oregon; One Sister, Roberta Cooper and Husband Neil of Park Hills, Missouri; One Brother, Harold Courtois and wife Patsy of Mineral Point, Missouri; Fourteen Grandchildren; Nine Great Grandchildren and by many other relatives and friends. In addition to her parents and Husband Leonard, Alberta was also preceded in death by Three Sisters, Stella Boehm, Lucille Evans and Louise Bone; Three Brothers, Jack Courtois, George Courtois and Bernard Courtois and by Two Grandchildren, Billy Arndt and Theresa Charboneau.
Alberta enjoyed dancing, this is where she met the love of her life, Leonard, and they were later married. She had a great love for her family and each of them held a very dear place in her heart, she always looked forward to the many family gatherings and especially spoiling the grandchildren. Alberta loved to spend time playing bingo, working crossword puzzles, playing cards and listening to country music. She was very proud of her antiques and enjoyed looking for them where ever she would go. She would relax and crochet or watch her humming birds around the house. Alberta so enjoyed the humming birds that she started a very dear collection of them.
Visitation was held Monday, November 10, 2003 from 5:30 P.M. to 9:00 P.M. and Tuesday, November 11, 2003 from 8:30 A.M. to 11:00 A.M. at the Moore Funeral Homes, Potosi, Missouri.
Funeral Service was held Tuesday, November 11, 2003 at 11:00 A.M. at the Moore Memorial Chapel. Musical selections played were "To Where You Are", "How Great Thou Art", "No Place That Far" and "I Could Not Ask For More".
Burial was in the Calvary Cemetery, Potosi, Missouri Tuesday, November 11, 2003 at 12:30 P.M. Serving as Pallbearers were Marty Womack, Brian Maxwell, Chris Coovert, A.J. Maxwell, Nick Maxwell, Shane Maxwell, Kenny Degonia, Yancy Stark and Tony Courtois.
Memorials were to be directed to Hospice Care, Inc., Park Hills, Missouri in memory of Alberta.
Services were entrusted to the Care and Direction of the Moore Funeral Home, 105 Clark ST., Potosi, Missouri.
