Margaret J. (Polhemus) Maxwell
Margaret Julia Maxwell of Potosi, Missouri was born on October 27, 1922 in Old Mines, Missouri a daughter of the late, Bernice M. (Boyer) Polhemus and Steven A. Polhemus. Margaret departed this life on June 11, 2008 at the Potosi Manor Nursing Center, Potosi, Missouri having reached the age of eighty-five years, seven months and fifteen days.
Margaret was united in marriage to Ralph G. Maxwell on September 27, 1947 at the St. Joachim Catholic Church in Old Mines, Missouri.
Margaret is survived by her husband of over sixty years, Ralph Maxwell of Potosi, Missouri; three sisters, Catherine Schrum of Potosi, Missouri, Virginia Bader of St. Louis, Missouri, Mary Sengheiser of St. Louis, Missouri; two brothers-in-law, Gerald Roy of Potosi, Missouri and Elwood Barton of Potosi, Missouri; also surviving are all of the loving caregivers and employees of Potosi Manor Nursing Center, Potosi, Missouri; the staff members of T.I.P Hospice and AmHeart Hospice. In addition to her parents, Margaret was preceded in death by three sisters, Louise Roy, Ruth Barton, Rosalie Polhemus and one brother, William “Bill” Polhemus.
Margaret was a former member of the St. Joachim Catholic Church, Old Mines, Missouri. She loved taking care of her home, flower gardens and animals, especially her cats. Margaret enjoyed reading and watching good quality movies. She was a wonderful seamstress and enjoyed tailoring most of her wardrobe. She also collected figurines that were given to her as gifts. Margaret was a very kindhearted woman who enjoyed the simple things in life and will very deeply missed by all who knew her.
Visitation was held Friday, June 13, 2008 from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM and Saturday, June 14, 2008 from 8:30 AM to 10:00 AM at the Moore Funeral Home, Potosi, Missouri.
A Funeral Service was held Saturday, June 14, 2008 at 10:00 AM at the Moore Memorial Chapel, Potosi, Missouri with Father Ted Pieper officiating. Honoring Margaret by serving as pallbearers were: Tom “Yogi” Boyer, Paul Boyer, David Zielinski, Eric Sengheiser, Nick Sengheiser, Bob Maxwell, Honorary Pallbearers, Marsha Adams, Dely Glatczak, Tashea Bourbon, Chrissy Price and Dawn Buchanan.
Final Prayers and Burial took place in the Redbud Memorial Gardens, Potosi, Missouri.
Services were Entrusted to the Care and Direction of the Moore Funeral Homes, 105 Clark Street, Potosi, Missouri.
