Ruth McColloch of Potosi, Missouri was born on Saturday, December 1, 1906 in Anthonies Mill, Missouri, the daughter of the late Eliza Frances (Pinson) McColloch and Leroy B. McColloch. Ruth departed this life on Thursday, August 10, 2006 at the Potosi Manor Nursing Home, Potosi, Missouri having reached the age of ninety-nine years, eight months and nine days.

Ruth is survived by eight nieces, Carol Pulliam of Potosi, Missouri, Mary Bowles and husband Orin of Potosi, Missouri, Betty Logsden and husband Roy of Potosi, Missouri, Catherine Eye and husband John of Mineral Point, Missouri, Alice Simpelo and husband Rusty of Potosi, Missouri, Linda Temple and husband Floyd of Potosi, Missouri, Donna Noble and husband Jerry of Potosi, Missouri, Judy McColloch of Potosi, Missouri; three nephews, John McColloch and wife Beverly of Potosi, Missouri, Melvin McColloch and wife Analene of Tampa, Florida, Lynn McColloch and wife Debbie of Potosi, Missouri, also surviving are many great and great great nieces and nephews, many other relatives and dear and special friends. Ruth was preceded in death by her parents, one brother and sister-in-law, Elijah Floyd McColloch and wife Frances, one sister, Frances Leora McColloch and niece, Audrey Ann McColloch.

Ruth had accepted Christ as her Savior at the age of ten years and was baptized in the summer of 1929 to become a member of the Fairview Baptist Church. Ruth later transferred her membership to the Breton Creek Baptist Church where she taught Sunday School for many years, was the church librarian, president of the W.M.A. and was very dedicated to all of the church activities especially teaching and working at the vacation bible schools. Ruth loved children and taught at Cedar Grove School for one term. She worked for over Twenty Years at the Brown Shoe Factory in Potosi, Missouri in all departments but mostly in the cutting and fitting department. She loved to relax reading everything she could but cherished the moments she spent reading and learning the words and teachings of the Bible. She had a great talent for writing poetry and shared her many writings with family and friends and had even accomplished the publication of several. She enjoyed the many gifts God has given us by growing gardens. She loved to make bookmarks from flowers she grew and would share them with many.

Ruth was a remarkable person not only for her longevity, but for the intensity and clarity of focus with which she lived her life. She will always be remembered for the love she shared. It was Ruth’s privilege to share with all of her nieces and nephews the home, love and family that Floyd and Frances blessed her with.

Visitation was held Saturday, August 12, 2006 from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM and Sunday, August 13, 2006 from 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM at the Moore Funeral Home, Potosi, Missouri.

A Funeral Service was held Sunday, August 13, 2006 at 1:00 PM at the Moore Memorial Chapel with Reverend Dale Blount officiating and assisted by Brother O.A. Robinson and Brother Don Burke. Music was provided by Mrs. Pat Simpson along with congregational singing of When the Roll is Called up Yonder and Whispering Hope.

Final Prayers and Burial took place in the Swan Cemetery, Anthonies Mill, Missouri. Serving as Pallbearers were John Eye, Roy Logsden, Floyd Temple, Rusty Simpelo, Jerry Noble, John Tweedie and Honorary Pallbearer Orin Bowles.

Services were Entrusted to the Care and Direction of the Moore Funeral Homes, 105 Clark Street, Potosi, Missouri.
