Grace Lorine McFadden of Potosi, Missouri was born in Brighton, Illinois on August 14, 1909. Grace, as she was known, was the youngest daughter of the late William Andrew and Mary Mariah Grace (Loyd) Fenstermaker of Shirley, Route. Grace departed this life at the Georgian Gardens Care Center on August 4, 2004 at the age of Ninety-four years, Eleven months and Twenty-one days.
Grace was united in marriage to the late William Eugene McFadden on November 24, 1926 in Farmington, Missouri. Having celebrated Seventy-three and one - half years of marriage together. He proceeded her in death on June 7, 2000.
Grace and Gene made their home and raised their family in the St. Louis area until 1949 when they moved to Napa, California. While in St. Louis, Grace became involved in the Order of the Eastern Star having entered the Order on February 26, 1946 and was the Worthy Matron of the former Jennings Order #497 in 1949. She was awarded the crystal gavel and star ring by her loving husband at the old Kiel Opera House in St. Louis during their induction ceremonies. Their theme that year was the “gold rush days” of the forty-niners. She was presented her Fifty year service pin from the Mount Moriah Order in 1996. Later she joined the Browne Chapter O.E.S. #320, Potosi, Missouri.
Over the next Forty years they lived in California, it was during this time that Grace became more active in the Eastern Star. Grace transferred her membership to the Napa Masonic Memorial Temple, Napa, California. She and her husband were very active in the Masonic and Eastern Star work. They traveled around the United States conducting chapter work at several Grand Lodges and Eastern Star Orders, including British Columbia, Tennessee and Hawaii. Grace raised funds through her tireless work in the chapters for the Children’s Hospital.
Grace joined the Avon Products Company of Pasadena, California on September 8, 1958 and for the next ten years sold Avon products and became the Napa District/Territory Salesperson, having won their Presidential Campaign Sales awards from the company from 1963 through 1968. She was awarded Avon “Queen” status by the company at their 79th Anniversary in 1965 and was part of the company President’s “First Ladies” Club from 1963-1968.
Grace had accepted Christ as her Savior and was a forty-one year member of the First Presbyterian Church of Napa, California.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was proceeded in death by two daughters, Methel Delores McFadden, age five years and Anna Grace Vienop; three sisters, Olive Mabel Lucker, Loretta Kendall and Josephine Kunze; four brothers, William Joseph (Bill), Charles Emory, Franklin Eugene and George Fenstermaker and one infant grandson, Martin Eugene.
Grace is survived by one daughter, Dorothy Lorine Roschke and husband Arthur of Florissant, Missouri, one son-in-law, Hank Vienop of Napa, California; sister-in-law Lucille McCarver of Desloge, Missouri, brother-in-law Ralph McFadden and wife Frances of Fulton, Missouri; four grandchildren, Susan Gerig and husband Allen of Baker City, Oregon, John Vienop and wife Jill of Jamestown, California, Stephen Roschke of Arnold, Missouri, Linda Morton and husband Kerry of Florissant, Missouri; four great grandchildren, Daniel Gerig, Matthew Gerig, William Otto Vienop and Hannah Grace Vienop; Very special and dear nephew and niece Lloyd and Linda Fenstermaker of Potosi, Missouri and by many other nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
Visitation was held Friday, August 6, 2004 from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM and Saturday, August 7, 2004 from 8:30 AM to 11:00 AM at the Moore Funeral Homes, Potosi, Missouri.
Funeral services were held Saturday, August 7, 2004 at 11:00 AM at the Moore Funeral Home, Potosi, Missouri, participating in the funeral service was the Order of Eastern Star, Browne Chapter #320 and John M. Robinson III served as the officiant of the funeral service. Musical selections played for the funeral service were The Old Rugged Cross, Precious Memories and Lord, I’m Coming Home.
Burial was in the New Masonic Cemetery, Potosi, Missouri. Serving as Pallbearers were Stephen Roschke, Allen Kendall, Lloyd Fenstermaker, John Robinson III, Don DeClue, Marty Fenstermaker and Bobby McFadden.
Services were entrusted to the Care and Direction of the Moore Funeral Homes, 105 Clark Street, Potosi, Missouri.
