Mary Ann Messex of Richwoods, Missouri was born on Saturday, May 10, 1952 in Richwoods, Missouri a daughter of the late, Alice (Rulo) Butler and Francis Butler. Mary departed this life on Sunday, July 8, 2012 at the St. John’s Mercy Hospital, Washington, Missouri having reached the age of sixty years, one month and twenty-eight days.
Mary Ann was united in marriage to Arlis Messex on January 23, 1971 in St. Clair, Missouri and were blessed with six children.
Mary Ann is survived by her husband, Arlis Messex of Richwoods, Missouri; two daughters, Sonia Stroup and husband, Kevin of Richwoods, Missouri, Jody Smith and husband, Bobby of Richwoods, Missouri; four sons, Wayne Messex and wife, Elizabeth of Richwoods, Missouri, Ben Messex and wife, Dana of St. Clair, Missouri, Nicholas Messex and wife, Maggie of Grubville, Missouri, Josh Messex and wife, Rhonda of St. Clair, Missouir; one sister, Christine Stewart of Branson, Missouri; five brothers, Joe Butler of Richwoods, Missouri, James Butler and wife, Norma of Richwoods, Missouri, Don Butler and wife, Shirley of Farmington, Missouri, Carl Butler and wife, Brenda of Richwoods, Missouri, Robert Butler and wife, Hazel of Richwoods, Missouri, sixteen grandchildren and one on the way; one great-grandchild; also surviving are nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. In addition to her parents, Mary Ann was preceded in death by one brother, Francis Butler.
Mary Ann attended the Richwoods First Free Will Baptist Church. She enjoyed spending time with her loving family, especially her grandchildren. Her favorite time was when she cooked big holiday meals and the whole family was together. Everyone loved her special chicken and dumplings. Mary Ann helped with dinners at her church and at the Richwoods Lions Club for funeral dinners. Mary Ann will be remembered for the many safe trips she made driving school children to various activities for the Richwoods School District and she was employed by Six Flags over St. Louis as a supervisor. She loved traveling to Branson with the entire family, for car shows. She also enjoyed going deer hunting in northern Missouri. Mary Ann loved her family and will be forever remembered for the love and laughter she shared with everyone.
Visitation was held Wednesday, July 11, 2012 from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM and Thursday, July 12, 2012 from 8:30 AM to 11:00 AM at the Moore Funeral Home, Potosi, Missouri.
A Funeral Service was held Thursday, July 12, 2012 at 11:00 AM at the Moore Memorial Chapel, Potosi, Missouri with Pastor Wayne Leftridge officiating.
Burial took place in the Horine Cemetery, Richwoods, Missouri. Serving as pallbearers were: Steven Butler, Chris Butler, Robert Butler, Jr., Ryan Messex, Jared Stroup and Steven Rhives.
The family and friends enjoyed a memorial dinner at the Richwoods Lions Club.
