Brett Ashton Mills
Brett Mills of Bonne Terre, Missouri was born on January 15, 1986 in St. Louis, Missouri and departed this life on Tuesday, September 30, 2008 having reached the age of twenty-two years, eight months and fifteen days.
Brett is survived by his mother, Sherry Gerrish and husband, Rich of Bonne Terre, Missouri; one sister, BreeAnna Allen and husband, Larry of Potosi, Missouri; one stepsister, Christina Caron and husband, Jessie of Potosi, Missouri; one stepbrother, Caleb Gerrish; maternal grandfather, Jimmie Kirby of Potosi, Missouri; aunts and uncles, Bob and Judy Mills of St. Louis, Missouri, Peggy Mills of Irondale, Missouri, Mary Ann Horton of Belgrade, Missouri, Debra Portell and husband, Gary of Tipton, Indiana, Jimmy and Garlyn Kirby of Potosi, Missouri, Denny and Sharon Kirby of Potosi, Missouri, Kenny and Kim Kirby of Kansas City, Missouri, Eric Kirby of Potosi, Missouri; nieces and nephews, Kassie, Kavan, Justice and Joshua; brothers by love, Drew Kirby, Lee Jackson and Matt Martin; also surviving are many dear and special friends. Brett was preceded in death by his father, Ronald Wayne Mills, stepbrother, Eric Belt, paternal grandparents, Kenneth and Mary Ellen Mills, maternal grandmother, Shirley Kirby and maternal step grandparents, Loretta Lopata and Buddy Gerrish.
Brett loved to spend time with his family and friends, fishing, hunting, shooting pool and playing cards. He enjoyed going motorcycle riding and lived life with all of his heart. He had a great love for his family and friends and enjoyed playing playstation with Joshua. Brett had a smile for all and was always ready to help anyone.
Brett passed on his gift of life to many by the honorable choice of organ and tissue donation.
Visitation was held Thursday, October 2, 2008 from 4:00 PM to 9:00 PM and Friday, October 3, 2008 from 8:30 AM to 10:45 AM at the Moore Funeral Home, Potosi, Missouri.
A Funeral Mass was celebrated on Friday, October 3, 2008 at 11:00 AM at the St. James Catholic Church, Potosi, Missouri with Reverend Joe Welschmeyer officiating. Serving as pallbearers were: Kenny Kirby, Denny Kirby, Matt Martin, Jake Eye, Lee Jackson, Matt Degonia, John Cook and Larry Allen.
Final Prayers and Burial took place in the Grassy Hollow Cemetery, Potosi, Missouri.
Services were Entrusted to the Care and Direction of the Moore Funeral Homes, 105 Clark Street, Potosi, Missouri.
