Nola Marie Owens
Nola Owens of Potosi, Missouri was born on Monday, April 21, 1941 in Fertile, Missouri a daughter of the late, Myrtle M. (Missey) Coleman and Edman Joseph Coleman. Nola departed this life on December 10, 2009 at her residence having reached the age of sixty-eight years, seven months and nineteen days.
Nola was united in marriage to Samuel H. Owens on May 5, 1962 in Old Mines, Missouri and were blessed with eight children.
Nola is survived by her husband, Sam Owens of Potosi, Missouri; five daughters, Barbara Owens of Belgrade, Missouri, Carol Owens of Belgrade, Missouri, Tammy Moehsmer of Union, Missouri, Janie DeClue and husband, Billy of Cadet, Missouri, Yvonne Portell and husband, D.J. of Oakville, Missouri; one son, Sammy Owens and wife, Mary of Colorado Springs, Colorado; one sister, Ruby Belfield of Potosi, Missouri, thirteen grandchildren, two great grandchildren, sisters-in-law, Hazel Barth of Potosi, Missouri, Juanita Barber and husband, Junior of Potosi, Missouri, Darlene Gallaher of Caledonia, Missouri, Karen Lawson and husband, Glen of Cadet, Missouri, Dehronda Smith and husband, Jack of Potosi, Missouri; also surviving are nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. In addition to her parents, Nola was preceded in death by two daughters, Gloria M. Owens, Jessica Lee Owens, two sisters, Judy Sansoucie, Kimberly Ann Coleman, two brothers, Joseph Lynn Coleman, Darrell Coleman and one grandson, Tyler Gene DeClue.
Nola was baptized at the St. Joachim Catholic Church, Old Mines, Missouri and received the Blessing and Anointing of the sick from Reverend Joe Welschmeyer at her home.
Nola enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She loved cooking and barbequing. Nola also enjoyed reading, doing crossword puzzles, playing yahtzee and cards. One of Nola’s favorite pastimes was gardening for vegetables and beautiful flowers. She always looked forward to watching the St. Louis Cardinals play baseball on television. Nola was a kind-hearted woman who will be remembered for the love she shared.
Visitation was held Saturday, December 12, 2009 and Sunday, December 13, 2009 from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM at the Moore Funeral Home, Potosi, Missouri.
A Funeral Service was held Sunday, December 13, 2009 at 1:00 PM at the Moore Memorial Chapel, Potosi, Missouri with Reverend Joe Welschmeyer, Pastor of St. James Catholic Church.
Honoring Nola and showing their love for her, by serving as pallbearers were; Billy DeClue, D.J. Portell, Nathan Owens, Josh Owens, Matt Owens, Nick Brown, Daniel Portell and Tyson Eaton.
Final Blessings, Prayers and Burial took place in the Antioch Cemetery, Belgrade, Missouri.
Services Were Entrusted to the Care and Direction of the Moore Funeral Homes, Potosi, Missouri.
