Paul Eye, a kind and caring individual, known for his hard work and selflessness, passed away on December 25, 2023. Born on October 26, 1937, in Shirley, Missouri to Bessie (Streckfuss) Eye and Lilburn Eye, Paul lived a life filled with love and compassion. On December 22, 1957 was united in married to the late Bonnie Eye. Together they raised two children and built a life of peace and happiness. After Bonnie’s passing, Paul was united in marriage to Judy Eye in 2003 and they lovingly shared fifteen years together before her passing in 2018.
Throughout his years, Paul touched the lives of many through his acts of kindness and dedication to helping others. He was a shining example of putting the needs of others before his own. Paul's genuine nature and warm heart made him a beloved figure in his community. He had the heart of a servant, dedicating his time to his church and being an usher.
Paul worked at Doe Run for many years before retiring. He then ventured found work at the forestry service. In his spare time, Paul found solace in the sweet melodies of old gospel music. Listening to records became one of his favorite hobbies and offered him moments of tranquility and joy. His love for music reflected the beauty he saw in the world.
Paul's proudest accomplishments were undoubtedly found within his role as a father and grandfather. He cherished these roles wholeheartedly and poured endless love into nurturing his family. Their happiness brought great joy to his life.
While we mourn the loss of Paul, we find comfort in knowing that he is now reunited with those who went before him. He was preceded in death by his mother and father, Bessie (Streckfuss) Eye and Lilburn Eye, as well as his daughter Connie Sue Bowles, brother, William Eye, and grandson Jon Eric Boyer and special extended grandson, Jared Owens.
Paul leaves behind a loving family who will forever carry his memory in their hearts. Survived by his son Darrell Eye and wife Jamie; five sisters: Clarice Allen, Janet Franklin, Judy Carlyon and husband Harry, Sharon Fritz and husband Royce, Mary Ellen Lounsbery and husband Dean; two brothers: Gervis Eye; Buddy Eye and wife Dana, sister-in-law, Mary Ann Eye; grandchildren Crystal (Jimmy) Harbison, Jamiee Bowles, Drew (Brianna) Bowles, Megan (Bob) Gunn, Jacob (Dawn) Eye, Jarred Eye; great-grandchildren Grace, Everliegh, Isabella, Caroline, Carson, Cooper, MaKinley, and Wyatt (Hailey). Special extended family Tom Jarvis (Bob Ormsby), Lisa (Gary) Owens, Robyn (Dewayne) McWilliams; special extended grandchildren, Brandon Jarvis, Autum (Kris) Knupp, Kelsey (Glen) Batson, NaKiesha, Whitney (Jerad) Marler, Amelia Marler, Bryan (Crystal) McWilliams, Brock (Megan) McWilliams, Lacee Hall.
Paul’s presence in our lives brought immeasurable love and light. May his memory serve as a reminder of the boundless compassion we can extend to others. Let us embrace the lessons he taught us and carry forward his legacy of kindness and selflessness.
