Virgie Beatrice Pinson
Virgie Pinson of Potosi, Missouri was born on Friday, October 5, 1923 in Cadet, Missouri to the late, Mary Zeta (Roderick) DeGonia and William Jewel DeGonia. Virgie departed this life on Monday, October 19, 2009 at the Missouri Baptist Medical Center, St. Louis, Missouri having reached the age of eighty-six years and fourteen days.
Virgie was united in marriage to Homer Edward Pinson on August 28, 1943 at St. Joachim Catholic Church, Old Mines, Missouri by Father Donavin and were blessed with three children.
Virgie is survived by two daughters, Beverly Jean Pinson of Bonne Terre, Missouri, Patricia Ann Hurley and husband, Matthew of Cedar Falls, Iowa; one son, Edward Lee Pinson of Mineral Point, Missouri; three grandchildren, Monica Jean Bland of Wentzville, Missouri; Colin Edward Pinson of Mineral Point, Missouri, Kayla Smith and husband, Kevin of Potosi, Missouri; two great-grandchildren, Quinten Charles Bland and Alexis Smith; three brothers, William Howard DeGonia of Bonne Terre, Missouri, Edward James “Jim” DeGonia and wife, Mildred of Ironton, Missouri, Ira Frances DeGonia and wife, Gaye of Hematite, Missouri; dear and special friend, Ben Vance of Los Angeles, California, Sherry Vance of Rolla, Missouri and Dr. J. Paul Tindall of Old Mines, Missouri. In addition to her parents, Virgie was preceded in death by her loving husband, Homer Pinson, six brothers, Ervin Stephen DeGonia, Joseph Oscar DeGonia, Russell James DeGonia, Vincent Michael DeGonia, Robert Lee DeGonia, William Bernard DeGonia, four sisters, Bernice Josephine Boyer, Mary Elizabeth Pinson, two infant sisters, Onedia Cecelia and Annie Elva.
Virgie was a parishioner of the St. James Catholic Church, Potosi, Missouri. In Virgie’s younger years she enjoyed riding her bike and horse. She traveled all over the United States, some of her trips include, Washington D.C., New Orleans, Bolivar, Missouri and Florida to Disney World. Virgie loved to talk on the phone to her family and friends. She also loved to baby-sit and play with children. Virgie took care of Ben Vance for twelve years and loved him as one of her own children. She will always be remembered for the love she shared with her family and many friends.
Visitation was held on Thursday, October 22, 2009 from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM and Friday, October 23, 2009 from 9:00 AM to 10:45 AM at the Moore Funeral Home, Potosi, Missouri.
A Funeral Mass was Celebrated on Friday, October 23, 2009 at 11:00 AM at the St. James Catholic Church, Potosi, Missouri with Father George Galovich officiating assisted by: Father John Snyder, Father Dennis Doyle, Father Ray Oge and Father Ted Pieper.
Honoring Virgie by serving as pallbearers were: Colin Pinson, Mike Bone, Randy Eaton, Ron Politte, Kevin Smith and Fred Seward.
Memorials may be directed in Memory of Virgie to Kenrick-Glennon Seminary at 5200 Glennon Dr., St. Louis, MO 63119.
Services were Entrusted to the Care and Direction of the Moore Funeral Homes, 105 Clark Street, Potosi, Missouri.
